35% Bulgarians Agree on On line Census Only

About 54,000 people will undergo the census of population and households in Bulgaria in February, said Lyubomir Blatski, head of the press centre of the National Statistics Institute (NSI).

Census takers are expected to complete a training until January 25. They will visit households, homes and buildings between February 1-28.

For the first time Bulgarian will hold on line census as well. It will be the first phase of the census and will take place from February 1 to February 9.

According to a national survey, about 36% of the Bulgarians would agree to undergo only the on line census. The reason is that it would take about 15 minutes, while the traditional method would take about 10 minutes more.

On average, one census taker is expected to visit about 200-250 people and 80 households. It is very important that all people and buildings undergo the procedure. In Blatski's words, less than 1% of the people and buildings were skipped in the last census.

He has stated that about EUR 1.5-2 is required for the census of one Bulgarian. In other European countries, the average sum is about BGN 4-5.

Bulgaria is the first EU member state that will hold population census in 2011. It also be among the seven countries, which will hold on line census as well.

The campaign will end on March 1, when the percentage of Bulgarians who underwent the census will be announced. The complete data from the census will be announced at the beginning of April.

Its been on the forum for about a week or more and its in 3 languages including English here on this page viewtopic.php?f=30&

it does not let you type in the boxes, so cannot complete the survey. the control arrow changes and does not allow input.

I think the idea is you can down load it and then print it off but maybe if you wanted to type your answer in you need to look at the settings and change them in your office program. Hope this helps.

thanks lisa, i did download it, but the arrow will not allow it, it has 4 arrows rather than the single arrow for control, so no control,

I think the only way then must be to print it off and fil it out with an old fasioned pen and then hand it to the census person when they call.

The Census on the download page is quite long , our municipality have shortened it to just 1 card(in English)
also the idea of all of us meeting in one place is that the municipality have not got enough English speaking agents to do every brit in every village/town, so makes sense to all meet in one place with one agent
you don't have to do this you can make your own arrangements!

As you may or may not be aware, this year is Census year throughout Europe


We had the Bulgarian census guy here last night, it took around 30 minutes, basically the same crap as the UK census, name address how long have you been here, whats your ID number how big is the house plot size not including gardens, how many rooms, what type of heating, means of support, religion etc etc etc


The guy who came here had a separate form which was in English, he gave that to me to answer his questions and he put the answers onto a Bulgarian form.

Overall nice bloke, very helpful despite not speaking English (Our neighbour was here who speaks a little English)

Well that was so easy. Lovely lady came helped us fill in the forms (although we had filled in most of it already) took about 20 Minutes.
