35% Bulgarians Agree on On line Census Only

About 54,000 people will undergo the census of population and households in Bulgaria in February, said Lyubomir Blatski, head of the press centre of the National Statistics Institute (NSI).

Census takers are expected to complete a training until January 25. They will visit households, homes and buildings between February 1-28.

For the first time Bulgarian will hold on line census as well. It will be the first phase of the census and will take place from February 1 to February 9.

According to a national survey, about 36% of the Bulgarians would agree to undergo only the on line census. The reason is that it would take about 15 minutes, while the traditional method would take about 10 minutes more.

On average, one census taker is expected to visit about 200-250 people and 80 households. It is very important that all people and buildings undergo the procedure. In Blatski's words, less than 1% of the people and buildings were skipped in the last census.

He has stated that about EUR 1.5-2 is required for the census of one Bulgarian. In other European countries, the average sum is about BGN 4-5.

Bulgaria is the first EU member state that will hold population census in 2011. It also be among the seven countries, which will hold on line census as well.

The campaign will end on March 1, when the percentage of Bulgarians who underwent the census will be announced. The complete data from the census will be announced at the beginning of April.

from Docx, other than that I don't know ant it downloading here fine but I use M$ Office

Bulgarian on-line census going smoothly

The Bulgarian census of 2011 is well under way as more than 26 000 Bulgarians have already been "
counted"
by the National Statistics Institute on-line service. In spite of reports about a brief collapse of the site and some delays, until now the system appears to be running smoothly, and "
data collection across the country"
continues, the private television channel bTV reported.

For the first time in Bulgaria, the census will be conducted through the Internet after the NSI launched the on line service at midnight on February 1 2011. With that, Bulgaria becomes the first country in the European Union to hold its census this year.

The most common problem reported is a delay in the arrival of the password , which is sent electronically to all those who register and wish to submit their information via the internet. People using the services from other countries could also experience delays;
additionally, sometimes the email sent by the NSI containing the all-important password could end up in the spam or junk folder, the report said.

In the space of 11 hours, the NSI website registered 80 000 impressions, or what they usually make in a month, the bTV reported.

About 1500 people were counted in the first 45 minutes, while until now, some 26 000 Bulgarians have been "
accounted for"
.

Everyone who wishes to be counted through the NSI website must first create an account, whereupon a password will be supplied so that the application form can be filled in and submitted.

The on line version will be available from February 1-9, while starting February 10 until February 28, the census will be made in the more traditional manner with households visits, Bulgarian media reported.

The authorities would like to stress that anyone who refuses to participate in the census, or "
forgets"
, will be fined 120 leva.

People are reminded that the on-line service will be available round the clock, while the traditional count will be conducted from 8am until 8pm during the designated period.

Yesterday, whilst enquiring about this at the Municipality and when we could do it, we were told they would not be visiting us as we are "
foreigners"
and they would just fine us all 120 leva. Nice little earner for the Municipality/Govt if they intend to treat all "
foreigners"
in Balchik in the same way
