Hi and Good morning { hope this is the right place to post this}
Is there any one please who could tell me the going rate or what I might be expected to pay for things like
manual worker odd job's
rubble removal
garden clear up
concrete patio build
logs
keep getting very different price's from 10 to 500 lev two cart loads of rubbish taken away 60 lev then someone tells me that's way to much I have made some enquiries :Headbang:all so it seems someone sends round someone to do the work and the money is split one for finding the work the other for doing the work I cant keep up So have put a stop to it all for now till I get my very sore head round this

Ok the going rate is about 30lv a day for labour and a cart of rubbish per trip is around 5lv.It can vary but not by much but as a Brit you will pay a little more for labour like everything else as they think we are rolling in it and compared to the loclas we are.

All that you have asked here can be as different as chalk and cheese depending where you are? Labour in the village can be as little a 20leva a day but then there are thoise that will charge more for ther same amount of work, as for logs this should I would think be in the rigion of 55lv per cub mtr. Im sure there will be others who will come along and give you their advice.

There will be some slight differences as said above so I think it's a case of just asking you neighbors, but do remember most Bulgarians have very little and if you have more than them then you will be seen as a type of Richard Branson so don't flash the cash at anytime while you with Bulgarians.

there is no going rate [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] you need to set the rate or you will come across silly quotes all the time. i had this when i first came here, i once got charged for moving wood that included the labour rate for the donkey and a 4 year old boy .

I have employed a cleaner at 20lev a day. bulgarian.
i have employed a handy man at 25lev a day. english.

someone will take your rubbish for 10 lev, no problem.

offer the job and state the price for the job, someone will always take it on.

Labour cost will vary. Much because you are a Brit or that they don't know you. You need to barter a price for the work that needs doing. We have a guy who does the garden on an adhoc basis and we give him a Packet of fags a bottle of beer about 8nb and his lunch. You will pay a maester (Brick layer etc) about 40nb per day. But again agree with them what you pay. Never pay until the job is done. We have heard of some people agreeing a payment then paying and the workers took the money did a little work and then they left. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Logs. Where you are you might be best advised to go to the wood yard in Kokorevo it is the first left turn when you get to the village. Kokorevo is the nearest village on the Elhovo Road to Yambol. The wood is cut and they will deliver cost varies as to the distance of delivery (Transport cost) but we get ours from there every year and it is up to now good quality stuff.

That's right it was the same for me when I first came if you don't state what you want to pay then as far as the Bulgarians are concerned the sky's the limit with us Brits.

As far as firewood is concerned always buy more than you think you need, better to have to much rather than struggling to find more in the winter and it's generally cheaper to but it now.

I can't add anything to this it seems you have had some very good advice but others may have more to add. Good luck.

Why don't you visit you local mayor see if he can find you help - We have been getting the local people in to cut our weeds down they price ranges from 30 to 40 lev. We gave 3 people 30 lev each for 2 hours work but that was too much however, we caused this problem ourselves as we assume that is what they meant when they said 30 lev for the work. Our Bulgarian friend was very angry when he found out they took the money from us. He went to the Mayor who than decided he would take over the cutting of the weeds etc and monies will be paid to him to sort out. . First one was freebe because our friend complained. See what it will be this year.

I will have a look in Kokorevo sounds good and not to far from me

My local woodyard[10 miles away] delivers oak logs for around 66 leva and I cut them into blocks myself. When I have a job coming up which I have no inclination to do, I buy in any material needed, then put the word out about said job and how much I am going to pay..never have to wait long for a response! Usually works out about 25 leva per day..never give advance or progress payments..ever!

Works for me.
