Can I invite the members of the forum to have a debate and post their views on the Scottish Independence issues

There are many topic's involved in a debate of this nature
Example's, Would Scotland have to join the EU if they went Independent
Which currency would they use
Would there be a border between the two countries
Would passport have to be shown when entering or leaving the country
Does it mean that there's no longer a British passport, in my case would it be English and in my wife's case be Scottish
What would happen to the people who live and work near to where the border might be
An English and Scottish married couple have children, which nationality would the children have

On a personal note, my wife is a Scottish lassie, if Scotland get's Independence does that mean that I am married to a foreigner

were not all born under that umbrella. Ireland is not in the UK. Please educate yourself.

Without wishing to be a smart A**S, the full title of the UK is the United Kingdom of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Great Britain consists of England, Scotland and Wales. Ireland as a whole was part of the United Kingdom from 1801 until 1922 when the Southern Counties devolved from the UK government and rule, and established their own country. The six counties of Ulster remained under the auspices of the United Kingdom. So it really depends on which part of that sadly divided country a person was born in as to whether they are a UK citizen or and Irish citizen.

Chad, sadly, lots of people are not aware of their nations history, and indeed geography. I blame the teachers lol.

Surprisingly a lot of people make this mistake even those who come from Ireland as does varnagirl I believe

As it is now one year from when Scotland vote to see if they want Independence, I thought it would be a good time to engage in further discussions on the topic. I for one do not want the UK to be split and just look at the pictures as to what we English could be missing if we haven't got a passport to get into Scotland

It would be sad to see Scotland leave the United Kingdom, I very much like Haggis and hope that the supply from the highlands would still be available if they depart from the UK and of course the EU!!

Don't worry, Itchy. Even if Scotland gains independence, the haggis will be still be hunted and exported!

I think the subjects heading is totally wrong! Should Scotland be allowed its Independence! Allowed by whom?
