First topic message reminder :

Can I invite the members of the forum to have a debate and post their views on the Scottish Independence issues

There are many topic's involved in a debate of this nature
Example's, Would Scotland have to join the EU if they went Independent
Which currency would they use
Would there be a border between the two countries
Would passport have to be shown when entering or leaving the country
Does it mean that there's no longer a British passport, in my case would it be English and in my wife's case be Scottish
What would happen to the people who live and work near to where the border might be
An English and Scottish married couple have children, which nationality would the children have

On a personal note, my wife is a Scottish lassie, if Scotland get's Independence does that mean that I am married to a foreigner

There are a few to go on with

That is a fantastic result Scunnered by a very large majority [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] ... dependence
I am born and bred in England and my wife was born and bred in Scotland, our children are therefore half English and half Scottish, so our family are delighted that we remain united g :Scotlands Independence - Page 10 1931734156:

Well, my husband and I were both born and bred in Scotland, and we have four children. Our daughter was born in Scotland, one son in Saudi Arabia and the other two in England. But they are all Scottish, and very proud of the fact! g

Give it a couple more conservative governments, those who voted no will be wondering what the hell they were thinking of. I can completely understand the fear of the unknown, but I would have been more fearful of permanent austerity, EU exit and a rejection of human rights. Businesses sit on billions without investing because of a lack of spending power, everything is screaming that wages are way too low, and this pack of barstuwards in power want to cut taxes for the well off and in work benefits for 10 million of the lowest paid workers!( these tax breaks for the low paid affect about a million, which I doubt will be honoured anyway given these idiots have doubled the national debt). The lifetime earnings for millions of young people will be significantly lower than otherwise, and 25 billion in cuts in the first 2 years of the next parliament, on top of other promised cuts which will amount to somewhere closer to 50 billion when these tax giveaways are paid for as well. That is just for starters, I will never understand any of it.
