| [size=75:2egiye56]novinite 2 April 2010 Russians Become Fraud Victims in Bulgaria Sandanski Resort[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][size=75:2egiye56]Private law enforcement officer, Alexander Tsankovski, is in charge of selling properties in Mall Sandanski over the investor's failure to repay their mortgages. Russian citizens have become victims of a fraud scheme with luxury apartments in Bulgaria's SPA resort Sandanski. The news was reported by Darik radio Friday. The Russians are said to all be wealthy people, some of whom are known to have large businesses in Moscow, and one is a close friend of the Russian Ambassador to Sofia, Yuriy Isakov. Two years ago the Russians paid EUR 50 000 each to purchase off plan apartments in the building of the new Mall Sandanski only to find out their apartments have been already mortgaged with the United Bulgarian Bank branch in the town. One of the best known construction investors in Sandanski, Ivan Kovachev, is reportedly behind the scheme. During the sale Kovachev declared he would pay off the mortgages, but never actually did it. The Russian citizens are counting on Isakov's help to get their money back. Kovachev mortgaged 11 apartments and other parts of the building (a night club, stores etc) and failed to make payments on the loan. The Bank listed the building for public sale for BGN 3.8 M. Private law enforcement officer, Alexander Tsankovski, has been assigned the task to sell the mortgaged properties in order to protect the financial interest of the Bank. Rumors that Kovachev is bankrupt are floating in Sandanski. If they prove true, the Russian investors face having to pay for the apartments one more time or loose the EUR 50 000. |

Brit Tried in Majorca over Bulgarian Property Fraud
The authorities in Majorca are set to begin this week a trial against a British national charged with selling nonexistent properties in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian National Radio, BNR, reports.
Investors became suspicious when the real estate company cut all communications with them.
Paul Charleston is the leader of a croup dealing with the sale of nonexistent properties to over 35 other Brits, residing in Majorca. The fraud victims, mostly retirees, were convinced to invest their savings in a business, claiming to be the developer of 18 000 luxury apartments in Bulgaria. The glossy brochure boasted pictures of hotels, golf courses and ski tracks, but the truth was revealed when one of the investors hired a private eye to investigate the company with the name “Black Sea Investments.”
In November 2008, Paul Charleston, 45, of Leigh, was taken into custody by Majorcan police, along with another Briton – Donna Marie Messe, 38, a Spaniard and a Canadian. Detectives from the National Police Economic Crime unit carried out the operation, codenamed Operation Sofia.
The Spanish Prosecutor says the group received over EUR 7 M that evaporated through offshore companies from Bulgaria to Morocco.
The maximum verdict they face is 14 years of jail time. |

| Indeed, you are absolutely right, cheekychops. If you know the right person to approach, it is possible to buy the Police, Judiciary, Courts, Prosecutors Offices, Lawyers, Notaries - absolutely anyone involved in the legal system.
Regards, George.
