Well said Karen! If I went back to the UK for a holiday I wouldn't spend the entire time eating Sunday Roast or Bangers and Mash just because I was back in the UK, I'd probably eat an Indian meal and a Chinese meal too ... for the same reasons, because I can and I want to! As you say, sometimes in Winter a bit of 'comfort food' is enjoyable. Today we're having Roast Chicken, roast potatoes, glazed carrots, leeks, yorkshire puds, onion gravy and a home made apricot and sage stuffing. |

| I manage to cook English food without resorting to buying products from a British supplier though I admire their enterprise. I cook all kinds of recipes culled from my travels. Anyone who can't live without gravy granules etc just won't find it easy to settle in Bulgaria unless they have lots of money to buy imported products. Just my opinion. Being retired gives me so much more time to be creative and it passes quite a few pleasant hours with a tasty meal as a result. |

PS. Forgot to say my onion gravy would certainly not involve granules of any kind! |

| Indeed, plus I can have a nip of red wine prior to chucking a glass into the roux before the beef stock goes in! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| This has become a real interesting topic, although I agree with most of what is written here I will have to say that even on Hiliday I always tend to look for something that I know and thats only because I am not use to anything else? but living in a new country I would like to think that I would eat what was available but I think for me I would alway want what I can't have and would probably go to great extremes to get it I would think that now and again a little of what you mis won't do any harm so if its available then why not |

| Hi bsbb, I love coriander and I also love curry but I think your post would have been better placed in the food section at the bottom of the forum when most members look for information about food and where to get it just a thought mate |

| Indeed everyone to their own tastes, but to be honest there is very little I could not find in Bulgaria that was different to the UK. It is just finding the right item that suits your tasts. I could not find custard powder, I am sure they have this, but do not know the Bulgarian name although we were having fun trying out all the look alike packets - Sure we will get there one day.
