What do members think of this property.lt has over 6,000sq meters of land and looks quite clean inside.
With a price tag l can afford and the sort of property with land l am seeking seems to me to be to good to be true.

l would also consider buying a property that needs to be renovated as long as l have a full trust in the builders to do the place up

I always say if it sounds to good to be true then it probably is?????, my thoughts are yes there is a lot of property for the price but why? I know its always down to the individual where they live but I wouldn't live so close to gypsies, not that I have a problem with them but better to be safe than sorry,

You never know.

You need to go &
see the place with your own eyes. Do the same things here as you would in the UK. Visit the place at different times during the day and in the evening as well. I don't that area but someone has hinted that there might be a lot of Roma. If there is stay away, as that would be the reason for a low price.

But even saying that you can get alarms to protect the property. You would need to enquire in Yambol if the Police protection system operates out that far.

Good luck.

its a lovely house, and there are many everywhere in bulgaria with good deals just now. there is a lot of roma in that area, that is a fact. check out with police for incidents in that area, have the current owners had any problems that they have not disclosed to you. have a chat with the kmet, ask and learn about the area your interested in. you are in a good position as many people bought before searching information only to find out later, that there was a problem. the roma in our village are ok, never had a problem and some are good friends. happy hunting and hope you find what your looking for. g

Good advice given by someone who has some experience of Roma and Tony has expressed similar, even with an alarm Roma can still be a nuisance and can always steal from your land, I've known these people steel bits of anything so do be careful and as starlite says maybe it was bought before the owner realised what the place was like? theres no doubt about it its cheap but why? and asking the local police may help but thats if they are honest? good luck and hope you find your dream place

Getting the real true answer may be difficult, happy hunting.

We know people that live near Gipsies and apart from 2 break ins they are no problem. They got nowt but was only because the alarm brought plod. So they bashed in the electric meter box so the electric went off, idiots as plod came again as these alarm devices have fail safe g

By reading the many comments on here, does make me somewhat anxious as to where to settle down and who to trust.ls it really that bad where the Gypsies are.
Where do you think is the best place to settle for a good quality of life without the fear and stress of being targeted by Gypsies.
lf Mamarchevo has a reputation of Gypsies targeting properties to steal and exploit the land, then l have to abandon the idea of moving to this village.lt reads like the Gypsies have the run of the place without being punished for their crimes and the victim has to go through a lot of stress and money costs to seek a justice.
l'll e-mail an acquaintance in the area to find out his views on this.

You must not get frightened by the comments that are made about the gipsies. What people are trying to say and what you are doing is that you must do your homework. I personally think that you have the right attitude and that you are. The Police in BG have a reputation for being corrupt especially traffic police in the past, but this has calmed down a lot in recent months. It really is a standing joke with the ex pats.

The one thing that is certain for sure is that if you decide to buy this or any other property in BG it will be your own decision. But you really must go to the place and see for yourself. No matter where you go other people will have good views and bad views about the area. A bit like the UK some people love London I personally hate the place after working in around it for over 32 Years. I like Newcastle but mainly the people. Hate Manchester because of the rain. There may be no problems with it whatsoever. Maybe the people that owned it (and it has a British look to it) just want out and get some of their money back. Reduced in price for a quick sale as they say. We only have the alarm system as we were advised to do so. Although we have gipsies in our village, we don't get any problems (fingers crossed).

As we all know buying houses is a tiresome thing. But you need to come here with a handful of houses and places to see and then do your leg work. You are doing what I did and getting advice as and where you can. But don't be put off by comments from anyone else. Make your own decisions as I know you will.

I do believe that what Tony has said is very good advice indeed and those of us who have mentioned the Gypsies are not trying to put you off buying the property but making you aware that they are there and unlike a lot of places that village has more than its share! OK not all Gypsies are bad I agree but it really is something you need to be aware of especially since you haven't visited Bulgaria and when you do it may not be to obvious to you that they are there as they don't walk round with "
I am a Gypsy "
stamped on them so do be careful and ask as many questions as you can try to locate English speaking Bulgarians i[*]he place you want to buy rather than the English that way you will get an honest opinion since most Bulgarians hate Gypsies so have no reason to lie whereas the English will want to protect their investment.

Well snail, I have looked at the pics of the property you are considering and one thing is for certain . . . no good going out with the hover mower there! A good Massey Ferguson tractor would be the thing needed with all that land. You will certainly be kept busy with 6000 sq mtrs of the stuff to look after. We are in a similar situation, ready to vacate Turkey and have a good look at Bulgaria, but will only rent for quite a while to do our homework and make sure that what we buy is the right place. It is all too easy to make mistakes when buying a property, one thing for sure is that Turkey has certainly made us streetwise and hopefully we will see any scams a long way off. Our property in Turkey is lovely but the time has come to get out as you well know, things are afoot here to empty the pockets of expats more each month. I wish you luck with your search and hopefully we won't be too far behind you in going to Bulgaria. Eric and Annette

Great advice here and very much appreciated. You say you have bought in Turkey itchyfeet, where abouts did you buy[just out of interest]l know all the scams here in Turkey, and have already helped 4 buyers from accumulating a ongoing nightmare for years to come.Really by rights l do know by experience and the knowledge l picked up makes me more cautious with the buying process in Bulgaria.
What l am doing is trying to learn from others about the Bulgaria's system and how to avoid such problems. This forum is aiding me to do this, which l never did in Turkey and been left with a terrible loss financially and with health problems. This has effected me physically and sadly mentally. But l do hope when l start a new life in Bulgaria with the added capital showing a good return in the Bulgarian bank,l will be able to pick myself up and feel more confident and more secure in myself.

l will never ever forgive Turkey for what they have done to me.They know what is going on and has allowed it to run it's course freely to bleed the buyers without any form of protection and aid to the buyer.l knew one person that did win a case against the builder that has lost everything, but the builder was free to set up another business and even though the legal papers were given to the victim means he had to pay more money to the legal system while the builder pays nothing to his victim.lt is definitely a one sided system here in Turkey. And l do hope there is more of a reasonable justice system in place to sue the perpetrator in Bulgaria rather then a planned system to protect the the culprits and punish the victim with more costs.

l am still looking for a place to rent for a period of 2 to 6 months until l find a place l like.lt all depends how things have progressed in my favour during the buying process
