OK without any rude replies

There is a word used on here (BOT) what is it please. Don't 4get some of us are not as clever with this PC stuff as others.

You all know how I hate TLA's (Three letter abbreviations) Sorry about that, it is an old teaching throw back, I think some people use them so they give the impression that they are clever . Can we all please try and avoid them if at all possible to some of you they are so obvious and as a result you fall about laughing, but to those of us that do not understand it can be embarrassing

Right rant over So back to the question BOT answer on a postage stamp

Hi Tony a BOT is a crawler? what that means is for example its Googles way of looking at the pages on the forum and getting all the info and the it takes it back to Google and hey presto when someone is searching on the net for say a keyword "
Bulgaria"
then it will show the searcher what it has found from various sites around the world, it also helps forums and websites get listed with the various search engines like Google, MSN, ling etc I hope that helps but Chris or Ashley may be able to help you more with this one?

I think your basically right Dave BOTS are little crawlers that read all the pages and then save the information to be recalled by anyone searching for something specific

You're all correct ... bots are 'crawlers or robots'. Once we register the site with a search engine (google, yahoo, msn, etc.), then their 'bots' visit us every once in a while so that they can add any new topics to their search engines.

As the site grows and gets bigger, the more often the bots will visit as they know the content of the site is changing on a more regular basis than other sites.

Therefore, the more we all post, the more we'll see the bots kicking around!
