| WizzAir Makes Emergency Landing at Bulgaria's Varna Airport
The dispatch centre at the airport in the Bulgarian Black Sea city of Varna has received an alert about a technical failure in a craft of the low budget carrier WizzAir.
The call about the A320 plane travelling from London to Varna with 152 passengers on board had come at 6:25 pm, the airport's press centre informs.
The airport has been immediately placed in high alert with the gathering of all emergency and rescue teams, fire trucks, and police from the airport as well as teams from the city.
The plane landed normally and the rescue teams have not been used at all. They were dismissed after the landing. |

Have you actually done that trip Mickhev, if you did it in 2 hours you must have been travelling between 80 and 100 mph On the map it looks as if the airport is north of the city and the overall distance is about 140 miles |

Just arrived home after being on this flight! Great work by the pilot and crew. Quite an experience but would not like to go through it too many times!!! |

| In August of 2007 I flew out here with wizzair for 4.99GBP plus taxes. I have some friends, with 2 young kids, who desperately want to come out and visit - but at 1,400GBP for the family, they just can't afford it.
You would think with so many flights in and out of Burgas airport (1 every day in peak season) they could reduce the prices a little. Most my visitors now fly Gatwick - Sofia with Easyjet and get the bus or train cross country. Unfortunately not an option for my friends with 2 small kids. I also know a few who book cheap packages to Sunny Beach just for the flights - this might be a cheaper option, especially when you get free kids places!!! |

| Just checked those dates out of interest with ryan air London Stansted to Plovdiv and it comes to £128 + the odds and ends (which I did not check) so I dont know if that is an alternative for you, This journey works for me as my in laws and my car are half an hour from Plovdiv (even though we also go to Pomorie) .I think I read on another thread that there is a good coach conection from Plovdiv, but dont quite me on that. |

| :Howdy:Further to my previous posting I have now checked out some alternatives. Most of the package holidays are into Bourgas and very few into Varna, but I did find one for Albena, Hotel Magnolia, All Inclusive including transfers for £489.00 that is only £81.00 more that a Wizzair's return flight It is worth looking at Balkan Holidays as well and I have also found some of Bulgarian Air prices better than Wizzair I have looked at Thomson's brochure and they don't even advertise Bulgaria and people are asking what has gone wrong in Bulgaria Please put your replies/thoughts on my competition topic under the heading IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT |

| Just some news from Wizzair
The planes of low-cost carrier Wizz Air, flying from Sofia to Venice, will temporarily operate from/to Marco Polo International Airport near the city, the company announced.
The flights will be diverted in the period from June 1 to September 30, 2011 when Venice Treviso Airport will be closed due to runway works.
Venice Marco Polo International Airport is located 30 km southeast from Treviso airport.
Passengers holding reservation to/from Venice Treviso (TSF) airport within the above mentioned period will receive an email about further details, the company said.
For new reservations to Venice in this period passengers should start booking selecting " Venice Marco Polo (VCE)" or " Venice all airports (VEL)" option.
Wizz Air serves the flights from Sofia to Venice twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Ticket prices to Venice start from EUR 24.99 for a return ticket, including taxes. |
