Any of you fancy starting a " Flight finder" service (UK-Bulgaria) for those of us who want to travel but aren't expert at this and don't have time to spend online? I'd be happy to pay a commission for that! Or does someone do this already?

I mean become a specialist travel agent, I suppose. I had the name of an independent travel agent in the UK but I've lost her details. She arranged trips for people according to their individual requirements and charged a fee for this. When you're doing it a lot you know where to look to find the best deals and all the options, not everyone has the time or know-how to do this. Obviously to make a full time living at it one would be doing more than just UK/Bulgaria travel plans, but it's an independent business to run from home, at whatever level one chooses, and if it's done well there can be a lot of repeat business.

:Howdy:fruitlover I think there are many specialist travel agents struggling to stay in business at present. you say:- an independent business to run from home, in theory a good idea but in pratice it would not work, because of the main fact of potential customers parting with their money to a non-ABTA bonded business, and that costs a lot of money to set up. You would also have to consider the pro's and con's of insurance because If something went wrong with a booking and it wasn't covered by insurance, that definately spells trouble Sorry to come up with doom and gloom but I am trying to be constructive and voice the potential pitfalls |

Yes that's true, obviously there are a lot of details to learn about this line of work. Not being very used to looking things up online I was wondering how to find someone who does it. None of the travel agents we went into in town would do individual trips to Bulgaria for us, but I knew such people exist because of having met one. Probably should have looked in the Yellow Pages or just typed 'Independent Travel Agent' into Google, especially as this was one of the online business opportunities I remember reading about when the Web was new. But though the work was done online the advertising (then) was not. There are always niche markets to address and 70,000 or so ex-pats going to and fro seemed like they may be one of them. I'm glad there are more savvy people than me on here to raise these pertinent issues.

Yes thankyou. I guess I'm just a bit nervous about booking online after some of the cases I've heard of lost tickets and disappearing money and bookings, etc. I still tend to prefer dealing with actual people I can speak with. But thankyou anyway I will have a look, if they fly from the North.

Bother we fly back on that flight but it was booked back in Feb so should not be any additional charges. I might try to get it changed as I just cannot cope with the long journey to Bourgas,
