Does anyone know what the latest exchange rate is in Bulgaria ?

The Bulgarian National Bank has fixed the following exchange rates of the Bulgarian lev (BGN) to major currencies for trading on 28 May 2012:

1 EUR will exchange for BGN 1.955
1 USD will exchange for BGN 1.531
1 GBP – for BGN 2.418
1 CHF – for BGN 1.628

Currencies, 04.07.2012

Major international currencies will be trading as follows in Bulgaria on July 4, 2012:

1 euro will exchange for 1.955 Bulgarian levs.
1 US dollar will exchange for 1.555 Bulgarian levs.
1 British pound will exchange for 2.436 Bulgarian levs.
1 Swiss Franc will exchange for 1.628 Bulgarian levs.

The exchange rate changes on an hourly basis. But the money sellers over here do a daily rate. So it can go up and also down. If you go onto the Novinite web site it will show you the latest rate. Even so it is not always an accurate rate that you can get. A bank such as UBB will show the daily rate on a screen in the bank window but if you do not hold an account with them they sometimes refuse to change UK pounds, plus the notes must not be damaged in any way and have no marks of any kind on them. If you go to a money exchange bureau the rate will vary from one to another but usually by not a lot. You also need to be aware that you can use your debit card in any ATM but you will be charge a fee. At the mo the rate is 2.45Lev to 1 Pound

2.75 nb today after Greece defaulted on their EU payment. What will the rate be after Sunday if they vote to effectively leave the Euro?

I know especially for tourists etc it's not going to be a vast difference, but people nearly always just quote the internet rate of exchange, but that does not take into account any commissions or charges, so wouldn't it be better to state what the rate is that is actually being given and from which outlet, at least that way anyone looking to exchange some sterling will have a more accurate idea to what they are likely to be getting.
