Hi Me again

Can anyone provide information (PM links if possible) for either bus or train services from Sofia airport to Veliko Tarnovo, and estimated costs.

We intend to hire a car once at VT rather than from Sofia airport as I have previously driven direct out of Lisbon Airport. It was scary to say the least with getting into a strange car in the middle of what could only be described as a race for all with everyone on the wrong side of the road as far as I was concerned is a prospect that I don't wish to repeat.

Have a look at vttimes.net. It's a free publication for the VT region, available monthly from local shops and also online.
It gives train and bus times, and will give you an idea about things going on in the area!

You'll need to get from Sofia airport to the 'central station' (about 40 minutes taxi ride).

This station is the 'Centralna Avtogara' (Централна автогара)

The train station and bus station are about 500 meters apart.

Buses from Sofia central bus station run approximately once an hour to Veliko Tarnovo and the price should be around 22 leva one way, with a journey time of 3.30 hours approx.

Very handy, good service and much cheaper than driving.
