After a year of trying to sell our property a family from Holland were outside our gate when I awoke yesterday. Not a good start for us first thing in the morning, Eric had to take the dogs out while I did a quick recky around the house. Living in a perfect tidy house all the time in case this should happen has not been enjoyable, it has not been relaxing for us, it has felt that I suffer from that cleaning disorder. Yes we have had to take less than we wanted but, this could have gone on for ever. So they had a budget and were sticking to it, I really did try my hardest to get them to up the offer [ us ladies are always left to do this ] but knew they would only be here for a few days, so last night around 23.00 hrs we agreed. Like many of you it is not easy to get back all the money and love and hard work we have put into our homes. We are awaiting a phone call from them today so we can get together to tell them what we will be leaving, and that amounts to nearly everything. My stomach is doing all sorts of things at the moment. We will keep you informed.

Oh I so know how you feel Itchyfeet because I felt the same when I agreed a MUCH lower price for my beautiful Spanish apartment. BUT you have a buyer and I hope it goes through and we will read a positive post from you soon. It has to be remembered that any sale at the moment is good and it must be also remembered that what we love about our homes or apartments is not the same for a buyer especially if they are on a tight budget as everyone seems to be at the moment. Well done and hopefully, you can relax before starting your new adventure in Bulgaria.

How lovely to get so many good wishes, thank you all. This happened on Tuesday morning. It is now Friday and we are still awaiting the phone call we should have had on Wednesday. So we don't think we shall hear anymore from them.

Sorry to hear this. You get your hopes up don't you? Why can't people just be honest up front? If they're not interested, they should say so. But you never know, you might still get that phone call. Here's hoping.

Oh I'm so sorry Itchyfeet. There's still hope, so fingers crossed. I corresponded with a Bulgarian couple living in Portugal who sent many emails and I replied with photos and chats about life in our village. They finally turned up with friends and went through the house like a dose of salts and it was obvious that plans had changed and a village house was now not in the equation. I had a lunch prepared etc and it was so disappointing to feel it was all such a waste of time. We felt we knew these people and had photos of them and their family. I will never know why they didn't email that they were now no longer interested. It would still have been a disappointment but at least all of us would have saved the anticipation of the visit, never mind a sale. I despair of the human race sometimes.

Many thanks for your condolences oldun we don't believe anything will happen now, but there is still a faint hope. Sorry to hear of your experience with purchasers, it happens to the best of us I suppose. The Turkish property market is really on it's knees, the same as BG and elsewhere in the world, but as you say it would nice if people where honest and said they were not going forward with a purchase, rather than leave us in a state of suspension for days. The upward march in the Sterling exchange rate has not helped, this past Winter and Spring the currency exchange was around 2.35 to 2.45 Lira to the pound, now it closed this weekend on 2.8392, so not a good situation. |
