We are holding a very special event to raise money for AidBG – Animals In Distress Bulgaria and
BSAPP – Bulgarian Society for Animal Protection and Preservation.

At the Secret Garden Bar and Restaurant –Avren Village
Dinner – 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Tickets for the dinner are just 20 leva per head and can be booked directly from Philippa on 0510 62339 / 0887 249890 – but hurry they are selling out fast! Please also confirm your choice of courses at the time.

If you are travelling a distance she can also arrange B&B for 15 leva per night.

If you can’t attend the dinner but would like to attend the Auction you will be made most welcome – just come along at 8:00 pm and bring your friends!

Attached is the Auction Catalogue, which lists all the lots going under the hammer as well as the full menu, information about the charity and the current campaigns we are fund raising for.

If you live too far away to attend the event, you can still support us in other ways, please have a look at the last page for details.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Our Sponsors for this event – their continued generosity and unwavering support is greatly appreciated. Please take the time to have a look at their pages.

A special thank you must also go to Philippa, Petra and John, without whom this event wouldn’t be possible – Thank You!

Finally, please forward this information on to anyone whom you think will be interested in attending, the more the merrier and of course the more money we raise the more we can do for the animals.

Thank you

Posted on behalf of BSAPP

Dear BSAPP :Your forum and other Members support a Bulgarian Charity - Page 3 1931734156:,

The sun is out, the snowdrops are appearing, and finally Spring is in the air and we have more great news on the adoptions front since our last newsletter on Valentine's day. Thanks to everyone who has helped in any way possible we managed to have 14 adoptions, that is 14 more dogs and cats have found new homes and been given a new lease of life.....And in ONLY 6 weeks, an amazing achievement in Bulgaria!

In this newsletter we have another prize draw to win a stunning print of your choice, a story on the Slumdogs of Bulgaria, and latest news on the movement for amendments to the Animal Protection Law and the Penal Code that is gathering momentum here in Bulgaria...

Our Box Canvas Print Spring Raffle...
BSAPP have teamed up with award winning Bulgarian photographer Milena Galchina to provide a stunning prize of a one off large print from her collection.

Choose from her online portfolio and we will have it printed on canvas and shipped anywhere in the world. From animals, to people, landscapes to still art, we are sure there's a picture there that you would like adorning your walls which could be yours with just a €5 donation.... please click here to enter!

The SlumDogs of Bulgaria...
"
Is this a photo from a third world slum?"
you would ask. Well, not at all! This photograph was taken in one of the most affluent neighbourhoods of Sofia near where the American Embassy is located.

In this shack lives a mother with her 8 children and several dogs which have found a safe place to sleep with this kind family though they find their food on their own as the family is barely able to feed itself, let alone feed the dogs, so the family have asked BSAPP to find loving homes for their dogs.

Can you give one of their needy dogs a home? Please see here for details...

Petition for Change...
Following yet another case of abhorrent cruelty against a harmless and defenceless dog called Mima in northern Bulgaria, there has been outcry that even if the perpetrator is found and proven guilty, according to the current animal protection law in Bulgaria they would only be liable to a meagre fine of around 500 leva ($350).

A petition was created by animal lovers and disseminated via Facebook. 180,000 signatures were gathered in only a week! Yet we learned today that the petition is not valid and cannot be submitted officially to the government because of legal technicalities. A new petition will be drafted with the help of lawyers calling for a change in the Penal Code so that cruelty against animals will be subject to a jail sentence of up to 5 years as in other European countries.

Meetings were held in cities across the country on March 30th and animal lovers and activists gathered to plan out next steps to push for legal reform. According to the media, Prime Minister Boiko Borisov and the Minister of Agriculture, Miroslav Naidenov, have taken the matter seriously and a taskforce will be formed to prepare and submit a proposal to parliament for amendments in the Penal Code. We will disseminate the new petition once it is published officially so please be ready to support it!

A nationwide peaceful protest is being organized for April 10th the facebook page for the event is.......... [url=http:

Thank you on behalf of the animals of Bulgaria!

Foster carers...

Shakira is in urgent need of a foster or permanent home! Shaki's current foster Mom has fostered disabled Bari because he, just like Shaki several months ago, was facing euthanasia unless someone could take him in and treat him. As much as she wants to help every dog in trouble, with 7 dogs in the household, of which 2 are special needs Bari and Sarka, it is not possible for her to keep them all.

Can you help and continue Shaki's homeopathic treatment and care under our guidance either here in Bulgaria or elsewhere in Europe? Please see our foster carers page for information on foster parenting for BSAPP.

Write to us at [email:3cdhhiqx]bsappbg@hotmail.
com[/email:3cdhhiqx] today to start changing the lives of dogs and cats across Bulgaria!

With heartfelt thanks to all our supporters for your continued support and kindness, we wish you a Happy Easter !

Sincerely,
The BSAPP Team

The Bulgarian Society for Animal Protection and Preservation

VOLUNTEER: If you would like to help make a difference to the stray dogs and cats of Bulgaria, whether you have skills we could use here in Bulgaria or from afar, please email us today!
