Bulgarian Meteorologists say Summer in Oct is over
Bulgarian private meteorologist center TV-MET has announced that weather in October would be typical for the season, with temperatures between 7-15 degrees.
Although the meteorologists from the Bulgarian Academy of Science (BAN) announced last week that summer would make a comeback in October, TV-MET refuted them, stating that the maximum temperatures in October would not be more than 20 degrees.
Meteorologists from TV-MET also stated that the rainfalls would be more than the average for this month, which is 30-50 l/sq.m. for the northern part of Bulgaria and 40-60 l/sq.m. for the southern ones.
Daniel Peev from the private meteorological center has explained the differences between their data and the data from BAN with the different models of work.
"
Scientists from BAN make their forecasts based on models from the European center in the UK. In TV-MET, we work with models of the US Global Forecast System,"
Peev said.
The rainfalls will start from Monday and will increase on Tuesday, covering mostly Central and Western Bulgaria, the Black Sea coast and the mountain regions. Temperatures will be between 12-17 degrees.
On Thursday, the rainfall will cover also the eastern parts of the country. The weather on Friday, as well as the following weekend, will be dry. The temperatures in the mornings will range between 5-10 degrees, while the afternoons will be warmer with temperatures between 15-20 degrees.
Peev has also announced that a powerful Mediterranean cyclone will hit Bulgaria between October 10-17, making the weather colder. After that the weather will stay warmer for a few days until another surge of cold and humid air from northwest hit the country around October 21-23.
The first frosts are expected around October 24-27. The sun will come out, without making the weather very warm. Mornings are expected to be very cold.
