Bulgaria Govt Orders Demolition of Illegal Black Sea Buildings
The demolition of illegally constructed buildings on the Black Sea coast is set to begin, the Chamber of Builders in Burgas reported Monday.
The Chamber has received a letter from the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works to collect bids for the removal of illegal constructions, all of which have been proved in court to be built without permission.
Buildings in the old town of Nessebar, Obzor, Sozopol, Kiten, the village of Emona and a swimming pool in Sunny Beach will all be removed according to reports.
Environment Minister Nona Karadzhova also reported Monday that a large number of building projects that have been approved on the Black Sea coast actually do not involve the intention to build – instead after approval the land is just sold at a larger price.
The European Commission is set to launch legal proceeding regarding some of these projects in Bulgaria, Karadzhova reported.

Quite agree bigsavak but surely there must have been a form of planning permission, probably corrupt by the sounds of it. But if you break the rules then you are the fools

sometimes its not your fault, our builders architect would not sign off next door as it had been built contrary to the planning, so he bribed another architect to sign it off. this house has now been sold, the owners know nothing about this and im not telling them either. its awful really as their future, their invested money could all be in vain when found out.

It's true if you had the money you could get anything you wanted built " legally" all you had to do was present a brown paper packet (full of course) to the planners in Bourgas and the rubber stamp was automatic. Why else do you think so many buildings were allowed. Investigate the planners/engineers and see how much they have stashed away!

balchik is no different, i have in writing from the eu lawyers, that there is suspicion of corrupt practice in the planning department of balchik, and im still here to repeat it. :LMHO:their days are numbered, this practice will now die out under eu rules.

Video: destruction of Roussalka pier - concrete and iron dumped in the sea
This is how Government oversees the demolition process of illegally built facilities in Bulgaria – concrete and iron dumped straight into the Black Sea – the very sea which the Government has vowed to protect for the benefit of all.
This will become a beach open to the public, and with wide public access, people swimming next to corroded iron appears to be a great mix, the very reason to go on a holiday in the first place. Not to mention free of health hazards.
The development at Roussalka has been controversial for some time. Owned by the Banev family, it blocks general public access to the beach, along with the swimming pools which have allegedly been built illegally near the sea.
The destruction started at 10am on December 7. The operation will cost 8000 leva and the owner will have to cover the cost because he failed to remove the facility voluntarily, the report said.
But the company entrusted with the operation has " deployed its demolition equipment on site and starting tearing up the pier. The concrete and iron, once dismantled, are dumped directly into the sea" .
December 6 saw the demolition of the first illegally built hotel on the Bulgarian Black Sea – Hotel Ramona near Varna. According to eyewitnesses, the debris from that hotel is also dumped directly in the sea.

This is more or less precisely what my girlfriend said as we were listening to the Bulgarian news last night. I didn't think much of it at the time, but it is, of course, perfectly true - they are destroying something they purport to protect. Have I become inured to Bulgaria after only 33 years?

The demolition of the hotel " Ramona" on the beach Kabakum near Varna
Shortly after 10 am 6 December began the demolition of nezakonnopostroeniya Hotel Ramona, near Varna. " This act is actually giving rise to a series of actions in crushing of illegal buildings along the North Sea," said chief RDNSK Varna Galin Baev.
In his words tomorrow to begin the demolition of illegal and marina complex in Rusalka. A month ago Baev said near RDNSK - Varna has a total of 25 illegal sites that should be eliminated by year's end.
Storeyed hotel " Ramona" is not working since 2008. since its operation is rendered unusable because of landslide processes in the region of Kabakum beach. Because of the erosion of the beach waves literally wash his first floor.
The hotel was built in 1995, before the activation of the landslide. As the law permits it, will the 1997 application for its legalization, but this does not happen. Today, however, access to " Ramona" is almost impossible. Therefore, eradicating it would be extremely difficult and costly, experts say. The most serious problem is that all construction waste will probably be discarded because there is no way to be cleared and removed from the site.
The hotel is operated by three years ago and no projects and building permit.
Has anyone noticed that all the debris is being thrown in the sea

I suppose this is just the government doing what is expected of them but the reality is they have done nothing more than get the publicity for it
