| hi I am new to this site so please forgive me if these questions have been asked somewhere else on here :) We live in turkey and like to travel around we are thinking about coming to bulgaria for 1-2 weeks may/june. We are looking at bus companies and have found one leaving izmir to haskovo it is 12hours over night arriving approx 05.30 is this reliable is there transport to other parts of bulgaria readily available any help with companies and timetable would be good. I was thinking of staying there or close by for the first night then travelling around maybe finding a good base to move around from We are considering the black sea/ coastal areas and would appreciate any tips advice or information on prices places to visit, transport or anything we need to know we don't want overly touristy places or 18-30's as we are a bit past that but still like to enjoy ourselves. If we like bulgaria we may consider longer trips in the future maybe 1-2 months so info on apartments would be helpful many thanks |

| all the bus companies are very prompt and have good service. if you go into the bus stations you can get connections to most places and the offices will arrange all your tickets for you. Sozopol and ahtopol are both quiet resorts just after the turkish border. sorry dont know any accomodation addresses as we only ever go for the day but im told you can go into tourist information offices and they will find you accomodation the same day. Enjoy your trip. |

| :Welcome2:Hi and welcome to the site. The buses and trains are very cheap and very reliable. If you can drive i would suggest that you drive over to BG and choose your hotels as you go. I don't know the prices of turkish hotels but if the bus takes 12 hours it's one night in a hotel in Turkey and then you will be in BG and their are lots of hotels 30lev a night for small appartment or a three bed room in our town and lots of places around BG we have found plenty on our travels Depending on what you like to visit there are lots of places to visit. The rose vally go early in the morning Etera for crafts and visitors centre Old Plovdiv for Roman remains ampy theatre and beautiful bulgarian properties. Valiko Tarnovo for the town and the castle The list goes on a week is definately not long enough and a car essential although the buses and trains are good factor in more time if you can Happy holidays |

| hi thank you all for your tips we are certainly looking forward to coming. Are there any places or things to avoid or be wary of. We are used to travelling around turkey and aware of the need for caution and security but just wondered if there are any particular areas we need to know about.
We had considered riding there as we rode our bike from the uk last year via greece, but the costs just make it too dear we may consider hiring something when we are there. Also we have been told the roads are not very good many thanks agian |

| The main roads are fine although some of the villages have very bad roads. Car rental is cheap in Bulgaria so ask around. Try and get a car that runs on LPG as this will be cheaper for you. |

| there are many biker groups in Bulgaria. Just last week they were all in Yambol meeting up I love to see the motor bikes takes me back to a teenager. The roads are good for bikes and wide open spaces to ride in May be worth a visit to the internet and see if there is a bike tour going on and join in with it if you can If you came on your bike you could bring a tent with you There are good campsites through out Bulgaria |
