Bulgaria Jails UK Citizen for Child Molestation



A 53-year-old British citizen has been jailed for fifteen years, initially at a maximum-security prison, for the molestation of a 6-year-old girl in the village of Novo Gradishte, in Bulgaria's Strazhitsa municpality.

On Tuesday Veliko Tarnovo District Court found Colin Tucker guilty of the heavy crime, which occurred in the middle of December in 2009.

Tucker will also have to pay BGN 60 000 for non-material damages to the family of the child.

On the day of the crime Tucker, who is a shepherd in the village of Novo Gradishte, was round at the child's house where her grandmother offered him wine and coffee, after which they were sent to the local shop. When they failed to return relatives and the police searched for them and found them at Tucker's house.

A year ago, thieves entered Tucker's house, broke into his safe and stole cash and personal documents. Tucker has remained without identity documents since then.

The sentence is subject to appeal at the Appellate Court within fifteeen days.

Fifteen years in jail that is more than a life sentence in the UK. Serves him right dirty b*****d.

I wish him luck in the bulgarian prison. 15 years is a big verdict. Specially for a foreigner. I see progress in the bulgarian court.

I take it that was said tounge in cheek ....progress....... doubt it ..more like seeming to be doing the job ,as it was a foreigner...I am not saying if he is quilty ,he does not deserve it ...but progress.......in your dreams !!

Lets be honest if this happened in England then he would have had a much shorter sentence and then given all sorts of goodies by the do gooders.

Hm... I think if the court looked at him as a foreigner they wouldn`t lock him but gave him 5 years "

Remember the case with Maxim Staviski? He got 2 years "

verdict for killing a person and puting another person into coma.

I must agree with you varnagirl although they have made some very small steps in the right direction but as said here if this was a case in the uk then he would have got off with a smacked hand.

Not quite true.

We know a lad that was a convicted pedo he got a lengthy sentence with no parole in the UK. The thing is here, that this guy has got 15, will he survive the sentence. In the UK some get a lesser sentence for Murder No one has yet considered the poor child who will also now be serving a life sentence with her memories.

Its true Tony what you say about the young girl, but I have to say that more and more of the sickie's are getting lighter sentences and given treatment in so called hospitals or warden controlled buildings .

A British expat engineer has been jailed for 15 years for the brutal rape of a six-year-old girl in Bulgaria after her trusting grandparents invited him round for lunch.

Colin Tucker, 53, moved to Novo Gradishte, Bulgaria, in 2006 where he made a hit YouTube video about the joys of giving up the rat race to become a rural shepherd.

Tucker pounced on the youngster when he persuaded her to come to his his home while he was walking her to the local shop after the meal.

Mayor Rumianka Draganov said: "
We never expected he was capable of such things. He came here in 2006, had no job, so we offered him a job and took him in. He seemed happy, and we never had problems with him. What I suspect is that he might have been hiding from other child abuse in Britain."

Tucker - who also has to pay the victim's family 30,000 pounds in damages - has 15 days to appeal against the sentence.

Can somebody explain to me why a Judge awards the little girls family £30,000 in damages, he is in top secure prison for 15 years so where is the money coming from. I am a great believer that the punishment should fit the crime and if he raped the little girl he has got what he deserves
