Another 9,000 Young Bulgarians Fled the Country
Nine thousand young Bulgarians have left the country within the last year alone, shows the survey conducted by the Association for Research and Development of the Civil Society. The news was reported by the head of the Association Daniel Panchev. The reasons for the grim statistics, in his opinion, are the blows of the economic crisis. Twenty-five percent of the unemployed in Bulgaria fall into the age bracket below 29. A total of 60.851 are officially registered in employment agencies, the National Employment Agency reports. In practice, this means that every fourth young Bulgarian doesn’t either work or study. Moreover it is becoming increasingly harder even to university graduates to find a decent job, which is the reason why a growing number of fresh graduates start working in the grey sector without pension or health insurance. There is a plan to open a new information portal where job offers will be posted especially for the people of this age bracket.
To conclude it must be noted that the share of young people who are practically out in the street has grown drastically in the last two years – from 15 percent to the current 20 percent.
