Hi everyone is it possible that some of you who have already gone through the buying process can tell us how it went and exactly what you had to do and the order in which is was done, I just think its all a bit of a mine field and the more we know from your experiences the better and easier it will be for us newbs to deal with and to know what we have to face although we are renting at first for about a month to see how we feel about it? and renting out our house in the uk

A lot depends on who you buy through.

Most agents will provide all the expertise that you require but make sure that the charges are well documented. One thing/ person you will require is a Power Of Attorney (POA) someone you can trust and who you can contact at the drop of a hat. Best to use someone that has been used by someone before. Don't send large sums of money unless you have a guaranteed method, speak with your UK bank first. Don't buy without seeing the property first many people do and regret it afterwards. Do the usual things you would do in the UK look around the area. If you need to sign paperwork you will need a Notary in the UK as well as in BG. Good luck

Thanks for the swift reply Tonyb60 but what I am looking for is a more personal view on the whole process you know what estate agents are they all say "
leave it to us and it will all be fine"
famous last words I say so thanks anyway but I really would like to hear what the process is from all of those who have already done it

May be of interest.

It covers the entire buying process, from arranging viewings, making an offer, signing the preliminary contract through to final contract, payment and moving in.

Hyer nu2bg,

My wife and I are also thinking on buying and living in Bulgaria too. We have done a hell of a lot of homework on the buying process and other legal information, in Bulgaria, I think what ever you do even if you think you have everything sorted and then make the plunge your going to come up with problems whatever. I think to be honest you just have to tread carefully whether your buying in Bulgaria or even in the UK.....

Very good advice your giving ian&mel I remember when we bought our house it was a mine field and even after a couple of years of research and vising Bulgaria we still didn't know all we needed to know I know that some people will tell you to get all the information you need from the REA that your buying from but I'm afraid I would tell anyone to do that, the link above that Chris has posted is brilliant and it's that sort of thing buyers should be looking for its called "
