Shoe chain Humanic plans 3 Bulgarian stores in 2010
Footwear retailer Humanic, part of Austrian concern Leder & Schuh, will cut the ribbon on its three flagship Bulgarian stores in 2010, the company said yesterday.
Two of the shops will be housed by Serdica Center and The Mall shopping malls currently under construction in Sofia, while the third one will be accommodated by Grand Mall in the northern Black Sea city of Varna.
“Our plans for Bulgarian expansion depend on the performance of our first shops,†said Ventsislav Stefanov, Humanic’s commercial director for Bulgaria.
In Bulgaria, Humanic will offer footwear under the brands Geox, S’Oliver, Converse and Vans, among others, as well as own brands.
Leder & Schuh, which is Europe’s sixth largest shoe retailer, includes also the chains Shoe4You, Jello, Corti and Dominici. For 2009, the company generated revenue to the tune of EUR 500 million at its 346 stores in 11 countries.
Over the past two years, competition among shoe chains in Bulgaria heated up. In 2009, the market welcomed German company Deichmann, which has built a four-strong store network in Bulgaria. In March, it plans to open its first Sofia store, which will be located in Serdica Center. Seven more shops should pop up by the end of the year.
Last month, Sofia also welcomed the maiden shop of Ara Shoes.
