| I was just wondering how a forum on facebook works. Are the posts automatically sent to the 'real' forum and can members on the FB page read the 'real' forum if you see what I mean? I ask because I have joined the FB one and find that there are loads of members on there but not many posts and of course, I wouldn't know if they are on this forum as they use their real names and not nicknames. Also, when both places have so many members, it begs the question as to why more people don't post on either. Why do they join in the first place? Just being nosey I guess which is okay, but it would be nice if they posted now and again even if its too hot or too cold etc!!!!! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| No they are both independent of each other and any member on FB can not automatically get on the forum and vice versa. |

| Don't know about Facebook, not on it, but I have to admit I am surprised not more people post on here. 'Tis very quiet for such an informative site.
But also probably the friendliest site I have ever browsed. (Usually lurk for ages just to see what they are like as there are so many bullies out there!) |

| The boss is a bully Equinus he bullies me all the time Think we need to have a 'fight' here Facebook is really good for spreading the word!! you can chose to have an open or closed group. It is good for our orphanage, you would not believe what is going on I have so many people offering us gifts for the Silistra orphanage when the children go on their hols to Sunny Beach on 31st Aug, the facebook members that will be in BG are also visiting the children to support us on the fun afternoon. The group at Sunny Beach also decided that they would send us raffle prizes for the Garden Party on 6th Oct. The are just great groups Today I was volunteering at a local fate and there were several games going on one was a wet sponge in the stocks - I mentioned this on facebook and said would love to have this at the Garden Party - 10 minutes later Lester came back and said he would make the stocks for us. Amazing!! Facebook is good to meet all sorts of groups - we have set up the orphanage group below and also ourbulgariaforum facebook people do tend to just chat so you don't get long posts it's fast. Also there are buy and selling groups and also very information groups on there too. It depends on what you are interested in. I like facebook. but it is not everyone; s cup of tea. Oddy |

| I think the thing with Facebook is that it is mostly just " one liners" , it is just quick. Less people post on BG forums, so there are less topics for people to comment on.....
I think people are also wary of the anonymity on forums. |

I think people are also wary of the anonymity on forums. I would have thought that people would be more worried about the anonymity of FB lets be honest do you know all the people in your friends list? I would say No! and FB is a known dangerous site. |

| Andy - I agree - many people do not know half/ most of their " friends" on Facebook, which I agree is where the danger in using it lies.
I only have 145 FB friends all of whom I know. If I don't know them, then I ignore the friendship request. |

| Well I am reassured as far as this forum goes on FB. I was worried because one person on there is definitely not a friend of mine and wondered if it was possible to 'lurk' on this forum. All my 'friends' on FB I have met at one time or another. I do not accept 'friends of friends' for obvious reasons. I have a lot of Bulgarians wanting to be friends because of my involvement with the Mindya Rockfest or my Mindya 'friends' who love the pics I put on of them all. I am wary of these people in case some of them might be in some kind of 'business' which will send me a lot of junk mail. I agree with Oddie FB can be great for spreading the word. My daughter-in-law uses it to get the word out about her 'Secret Supper Club' and she is always booked up. There is a Mindya Group and a Mindya Rockfest Group both of which also help to promote our village so that is good. Having said all that, I have many times wondered if I should erase myself from FB completely. I don't think it is 100% safe and it is far too easy to add 'friends' because FB encourages this for their advertisers although I have never even bothered to read the adverts on the right of the page! In the past, I have deleted 'friends' because I thought gossip was being passed around, but now I have added everyone I have ever met because it didn't seem to make any difference to the gossiping so it wasn't my 'friends'! In doing this, some folks have taken offence, but there you go - that's FB for you. I agree more folks should post on the forum. We have so many members and so few topics posted or replied to. Yes, I know its summer and hot but even in winter the forum is not really buzzing as it should be. Its noticeable that people are quick to post on forums if there is any dispute going on!!!!! | Well someone impersonated me on Facebook made a page with my name etc and avator, contacted people to say that I had lost my facebook page and that they need to re accept me as a friend, they even contacted my daughter saying they were me. They posted that we had stopped trading and all work was cancelled as we were retiring, they then went on to do the same on trip advisor. Both facebook and trip advisor have been advised that this was fraud, and both have taken it very seriously. Today our solicitor who is dealing with it, has had some communication from facebook which is very interesting and looks like the person is about to be found out. |

| Oldun have to say facebook is pretty much the same as any other internet communication link. The username is your name or your email address and the nickname is what you want to be know as ie 'Oldun' You put on as much info as you wish people to know just like the forum - You don't have to give your own name, you can use a nickname but if you wish people to find you, like your old school friends, then is makes it a little harder for them to do so.. Like all internet links ie Twitters, Skype, Facebook the Forums etc you have no idea who you are talking to, you just have to be careful. Don't accept any friends unless you know them or they are friends of people you know. You can always un-friend them later. You can chat with people on there too, a little box pops up when one of your friends wish to chat, just like Skype. There are all sorts of groups including Expat's in their own areas like the Sunnybeach group and so on. Tells you what is going everywhere really. It is just a quick way of communicating, so don't worry you are the one in control Oddy |
