UK's Bulgarian Migrants Quadruple in 6 Years
A 382% increase in the number of Bulgarian migrants to the UK has been registered in the period 2004-2010, according to the British Migration Watch UK organization.
Some 53 000 Bulgarians now inhabit the UK, compared with the mere 11 000 in 2004, the data shows. This means Bulgarians constitute the fifth fastest growing immigrant population in the country. The top five nations fuelling the rise in Britain's immigration are all from Eastern Europe – the list being topped by Slovakia with the remarkable 513% increase, followed by Poland, Latvia, Romania and Bulgaria.
Poland has 521,000 of its citizens in Britain - 448 per cent up on the 95,000 who arrived here in 2004, the data also reveals.
"
This is a huge increase,"
Migration Watch UK chairman, Sir Andrew Green, told the News of the World.
"
It is nonsense to suggest it's had no effect on British workers, not to speak of schools and housing. It's now vital that mass immigration be brought under control,"
he added.
