Unexploded WWII Bomb Dug up in Down town Russe, Bulgaria
An unexploded shell from the Second World War has been unearthed Tuesday during repair work in the central square of the major Bulgarian city of Russe on the river Danube.
The bomb was discovered right next to the big fountain in the centre of the Russe square.
It was lying some 4 feet below the ground. The shell is one foot (30 cm) in length and carries a significant amount of explosives.
It has been carried away for inspection and the site has been closed on grounds of safety.
Further inspections are under way for other dangerous objects in the area, as well as additional remains from the war.
