On the 1st of November the Nationwide Building Society started charging for making withdrawals while abroad. On my account it works out at 3 per cent of everything I withdraw, this is Lira because I still live here in Turkey. I have been informed by other Expats that withdrawing in Sterling eleviates this and no charge is made. Has anyone any information on this and have they changed the way they withdraw their money from Nationwide? If this is the case I will be better off because using the ATM's for withdrawing Lira is expensive when the banks do not give a good rate and the local jewellery shops give a better rate than the banks.
