| No More Traffic Police Traps [size=85:2a6dqisz]The drivers should call a local police department, if they get ambushed by a patrol of the traffic police
A traffic police patrol is lurking behind a bush by the road to stop some speeding up driver. This has been a common practice on the Bulgarian roads for quite a few years now, but the Interior Ministry has recently vowed to put an end to the traffic police hold-ups. According to Commissioner Milcho Enev, chief of the Security Police Service, the traffic police officers who still ambush drivers should be demoted, as they have no right to hide in bushes by the road. Commissioner Enev encouraged drivers to report to the authorities, if they get ambushed by a patrol of the traffic police. In addition, the traffic policemen who go out to prey on drivers after their shift is over will face a disciplinary punishment. |

| Good news thanks - They caught us going though a village and show us 62 on the speed clock - No way would Dougie drive through a village at that speed, he has been a 7.5 ton driver for over 40 years and knows better, but of course we could not argue or prove it, so had to pay the 31lev :Headbang:Bet he had been using that same reading all weekend. Oddy I was stopped on the hill by the Green Palace Hotel in Dobrich on our last visit for doing what they claimed was 68k per hr. Can any member throw any light as to why it takes three police officers to catch a speeding driver. The machine they had on the dash-board looked older than an old London parking meter A word of warning here folks, when asked for your documents never give them your passport, even if you have it with you tell a lie, don't part with it Anyway after 10 minutes of " I don't understand" and then showing them a picture of the guy who was behind us loosing our villa (Dimitar Teoharov) they said GO and waved me on :Waving:I didn't argue |

| no, they are a relay team, one call, one car, all move up a place in the que. its a scandal really and worse than hiding. this practice is soley for the purpose of catching as many motorists as possible in the most sneakiest way possible. |

| Tue, Nov 16 2010 The Sofia Echo This is disgusting, and this is the traffic cops, who are suppose to set an example Official: Bulgarian traffic police get more than 100 000 bribes a year Officers from the Bulgarian traffic police (KAT) receive at least 100 000 bribes annually, according to Tihomir Bezlov from the Centre of Democratic Studies (CDS), the private Bulgarian television channel bTV reported on November 16 2010. The statistics were made public during a forum where results of investigations into " relationships and interactions between organised crime and corruption" in Bulgaria were presented. The research was part of a broader survey of all 27 member states in the European Union, the report said. Widespread corruption within KAT is one of the priorities that the Interior Ministry must deal with, Bezlov said. In the first phase, it is essential that operations and investigations are stepped up, so that the number of bribes falls to below 80 000 a year, the report said. The discussion was set up by the Parliamentary Committee on Internal Security and Public Order and the CDS. The forum itself was opened by the vice-president of the National Assembly and chairman of the Committee on Internal Security and Public Order, Atanas Atanassov and the chairman of the CDS, Ognyan Shentov. |
