| had to travel to vt yesterday to do buisness deal, the motorway e70/a2 was awful, full of major pot holes, we had a major puncture due to the conditions, and in vt itself, it was the worst roads i have ever seen, in fact they were not roads really, just a mess of carved up roads which most cars would not be able to cope with. I thought ours roads were not good but compared to vt they are good, how you put up with them is beyond me and bulgaria needs to get to grips with these roads as they are a hazzard and a danger to life, where is the eu money going as i would not have believed what i saw in vt, sorry guys to anyone in vt but it was unbelievable and beyond belief. |

really golly gosh Loups they were doing that road when we there last year. It was like getting round a huge maze with all this big squares cut our ready for tarmac. Pretty dangerous to drive around at night eh!! Might be a good idea to get Dougie and son to stay in Varna for the night as they don't fly in until 9.30pm . Thanks for the warning Oddy |

| Well every year they cut out the squares fill them with some tarmac, ok until the winter then they all break up and get worse than the year before, then they start all over again, lol yes where has the monet gone???? but even if they had spent all the money from europe on the roads it would not have been enough lol |

| On our visit last week, we had a little hire car.
I'm amazed the suspension and tyres held out. Even after we got used to the pot holes, one still pops up and surprises you!
The road from Yambol to Elhovo was dreadful, especially when you see a convoy of juggernauts weaving from one side of the road to the other!
We did some work men had cut out the squeares ready for filling and were stood around waiting for the tarmac lorry to catch up with them. Strangely they were still waiting on our way back a couple of hours later !!
By the end of the week we had accepted that the roads are just one of the quaint little quirks of Bulgaria |

| I have to say i have had more punctures in bulgaria in 3 years than i have had in 46 years of driving heavy goods vehicles in the uk, i have now a 4x4 and hope this will reduce the problem of burst tyres but who knows, lol |

| Ha Ha ... yes. When we bought our Pajero, the dealer said he'd give us a 12 month guarantee on all mechanical parts .... except the shock absorbers!
This made me laugh this morning: [url=http: //news. bbc. co. uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/kent/8599513. stm:2jgypcne]Pot Holes in Kent[/url:2jgypcne] |

| Phew, really lucky down our way then, our roads are great compared to what you lot are saying ! I suppose the major route/highways take a hammering, especially frequented by the haulage trucks and then the extremes in weather. The only rough roads and not that bad really are the smaller track type roads that are short cuts over the mountains,or white roads on the map, otherwise not a problem,i can quite happily drive at between 55 and 70 MPH on the back roads,to our village from Harmanli or from Svilengrad/Mahdjarovo. |
