Eighth children's bike race in Sofia's South Park this weekend

A bicycle race for children up to the age of 12 will be organised in Sofia's South Park near the entrance leading to Gotse Delchev Boulevard at the big meadow. The event is organised by the kids' portal, [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

This year's event, the eighth of its kind, has been set for October 2 2010 starting at 10.30am until 12pm. Children can register online and must be equipped with their own bike and helmet.

The event was also organised with the assistance of Sofia municipality and deputy Sofia mayor Hristo Angelichin, a media statement said.

The event will be broken down into four age groups, the youngest of which will be for five-year-olds who will race on tricycles and will go first. Organisers are expecting more than 100 children to take part.

There will also be an event for mothers, as well as "
unorthodox"
competitions with skateboards, toy trucks, prams and others, the media statement said.

In spite of the difficulties we had in organising this event, we would like to thank Sofia municipality for their assistance and Mr Angelichin in particular. We are happy that we will make the children and their parents happy once again,"
Justine Toms, from the portal said.

Prizes will be provided by Ekopak Bulgaria, Az-Deteto, Pobeda AD and others.
