Greek Pensioners Settle in Petrich Town
Their retirement payments are enough for a comfortable life in the southern Bulgarian town
Many Greek pensioners have settled in the southern Bulgarian town of petrich, where their retirement payments, between 700 and 800 Euro per month, give them a higher living standard. Our southern neighbours rent comfortable flats and the wealthier of them buy huge mansions.
The cost of life here is 50% of what I normally spend in Thessalonica per month, says 65-year-old Kostas Vangelis.
There are many Greeks in the town and some of them have even married Bulgarian women,? he added. Our southern neighbours like it here - the life is calm and it?s much cheaper than on the other side of the border,? said Petrich Mayor Velio Illiev.
