Little Lily between Life and Death Red-tapery might cost life to a little girl in need of liver transplantation
The life of a 13-year-old girl is hung by a thread because of an outrageous bureaucratic delay. Little Lily is dying out in a British hospital because the Bulgarian healthcare authorities do not want to issue a simple document that will allow to make a liver transplantation. The girl is suffering from a rare disease – autoimmune hepatitis. Without a transplant she may day within days. The anguished parents have done the impossible to sent their daughter to England for a complicated surgery, however they are about to lose the battle with the Bulgarian bureaucrats. British doctors wouldn’t believe that this is happening. They’ve been writing letter after letter to their colleagues in Bulgaria asking for the necessary form but confronted with a wall of indifference – healthcare bureaucrats have been sending them from pillar to post for months.
The Standart has been shocked by the case and decided to join in the battle for Lily’s life. After the newspaper raised alarm the girl hopefully will have a chance to survive. |

| This is so very sad why don't the Bulgarians see life as so fragile and so important?? I'm sure if it was one of the top dogs they wouldn't hesitate |

| bulgaria is full of red tape, a piece of paper with numerous stamps before it is accepted as legal. going to the bank is a nightmare, you come back with the remains of a tree just to prove you did it right. bulgaria needs to relax its red tape when a life is at stake, its nonsense not to give permission at the highest level by word of mouth, the paper chase is a joke in such an important decision. its simple, give the green light and lets save a life, bulgaria is doing no favours to itself by delaying important decisions, life saving decisions. does it still have so little regard to human life, seems it does, not good. |

| as terrible as it is, i don't think the uk can take the moral high ground, we have just as much red-tape shenanigans that stop people from getting the help they need
i do hope however that this lil girl gets the help she needs asap |

| Your right Davey but at least in the UK common sense and human kindness would kick in much quicker and where children are concerned there would be any question |
