Sofia Ups Fees for Blue Zone Parking in Autumn

Months after the bye-elections for mayor in the Bulgarian capital Sofia, the municipality has confirmed plans for a hike in the fee for parking in the blue zones, to be enforced in the autumn.

“It is not our aim to just take more money from Sofia citizens, but to bring order in the parking lots and ease the traffic,” assured Nikolay Stoynev, head of the economic commission with the city parliament.

According to reports the fee for an hour's stay in the blue parking zones in downtown Sofia will increase from BGN 1 to BGN 3. To this the mobile operators add the price of the sent text message, except Vivacom, which does not charge the SMS fee.

Fees for parking in the green and yellow zones in Sofia have reportedly been set at BGN 2 and BGN 1 per hour respectively.

All who want to pay their parking fees in a hassle-free way have to send a text message to number 1302 for subscribers of the three mobile operators Mtel, Globul and Vivacom.

After sending the SMS, the person gets a reply that the payment was successful. Five minutes before the pre-paid hour elapses, the subscriber receives a notification.

thats a high percentage rise, common practice seen all over bulgaria in all areas, bulgaria is fast becoming an expensive place to live in, with little to provide by way of entertainment, dining or basic facilities that one expects, and the roads well enough said, got it wrong, sadly well wrong. growth should have been on providing ameneties to visitors and residents but alas no, their aim is to hike prices with no improvements in the infrastructure. greed is their motto. doomed to failure.

Does anyone know when there will be a new regulament for parking at blue zone near by domicile?
