Oh heck note to self: Do not bring wood indoors unless it is sprayed. Got some wood from the woodshed, fill the bucket with 3 pieces and brought in by the fire. Realised I did not spray it so sprayed into the bucket. Went to finish making the tea, when I came back almost choked on the tea as there was 15 wood insects that came out of the wood. I sprayed them again. So be careful about taking the wood inside you don't want these wood things in your house. I can hear them in the woodshed munching the wood so have sprayed all the wood again. I will continue to spray for next few days hope that gets rid.

Here is the bad news Berni, you don't want these critters in your house, the link descibes several of the species which look familiar.

I get these in my woodshed it seems as though they prefer to tunnel between the bark and wood first if you can remove the bark and knock the wood they fall off quite readily

That's an interesting point Simon...the old chap next door to me told me ages ago about leaving the bark on any stored wood. It very much applies to any wood used in construction...I never leave any at all. Seems to work.

Thanks Si, not seen any more now since I sprayed the woodshed nor can we hear them so maybe, fingers crossed many of them are dead I doubt we got them all but will spray everyday. Leaving the wood outside on the balcony and only taking in what I need now, best be safe.
