Well here I am thinking of the Christmas party for the village children again this year. Last year was a great success so the villagers are asking what are we doing this year said we will have to have a meeting to discuss everyone's ideas. That should be fun. They said last year what I proposed would not happen, like getting all the mayors to donated food from the list I provided, and low and behold all seven mayors from different villages came forward and we had lots of food. They said people will not come yet we had 129 children plus all their parents. the hall was overflowing and we had made enough food for everyone including the food they took home. It was a really good party. Fingers crossed this year will be the same. I won't be doing mini stocking this year but will be making white snowmen' This is a sample but the original will be smaller and white. Could only use a pair of Dougie old socks to make a sample, hope he does not miss them [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Right now need your advice please We are planning the Christmas community party for the surrounding villages again last year we had 129 children, I thought I and the ladies would make these little snowies so I have made 29 so far but frankly they are working out to be more expensive that I thought and I still have another 100 to go. It's the baby socks that are expensive and they are not sold in packets only individual pairs. So I am now thinking if I make to sell than with what profit we can make them for the community party but at what price should I sell. the socks cost 1.20 to 1.50 then there is the rice and stuffing and the accessories (but I have lots of crafting stuff myself) so am using that. What price do you think they will sell for and where in BG can I sell them. PLEASE DO NOT OFF ANY DONATIONS as this is a community project and nothing to do with the orphanages Thanks a million [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

| Well now I am surprised I sold the stocking and snowmen on Facebook and got over 200lev some I donated to various groups. This is nothing to do with the orphanages I did this myself so I could give the money towards the community party this year. But to my surprise the locals did not want a childrens party, just a community party. This was not what we planned for Christmas but we are only helping this year not organizing, we were very dissapointed but we helped prepare the hall and the normal food they have salad, burgers etc and this was only for our village and a specific group they invited. So not at all what we thought when I said I would give the money to the party. However, we had 4 children there. I decided not to give them the whole amount but gave them 106lev the rest of the money will go to Pamela Penkersmith who is raising funds for a special wheelchair for a young man who is paralised, I feel better about it now but had I known there was to be no xmas party for the children I would have donated all the funds to Pam. I must admit I am very dissapointed in the villagers as the whole idea of doing up the hall and giving presents is for the children. Now the presents we had for the children will go to Yardanavo village on 26th but again won't hold my breath as not sure what is planned there either. I told the mayor we have gifts for 150 children so we will see. I thought last years when we united 7 villages with the childrens xmas party that they would be forthcoming this year, but all they wanted to know was were we giving out presents again, the ladies in the village said no and guess what. only 3 families from the next village turned up and yes we had some hats and scarves left over so we gave them presents. Really not liking the way these people think one little bit. They seem to be thinking only of themselves They don't want to be involved with the other villages. I HOPE I am wrong

You can only do what you feel is right as you have always, what others do is then out of your hands sadly but we can live in hope. Berni you have always done a good job in the past so don't you get feeling down at all.

We went to Yordanavo village on 26th only to find the Mayor was not available so he sent his secretary. I asked our own Mayor to accompany us and help give out the presents which he did not hesitate for a second. I had confirmed the info to the Yardanavo Mayor two nights before yet he never said he would not be there. Plus there was about 60 chidlren not 150, the secretary wanted us to leave the rest of the presents so they could give them out but this was not an option if the families could not be bothered to come to the hall then why should we bother. As yet have had no contact from the Mayor of Yordanavo. We have two more villages to visit with the Pastor to give out Knit for Peace's donations so have decided anything left over instead of keeping for next year we will donate it all to the Hitrinos Shuman disaster, we just have to find a way of getting it down there now. I have asked on facebook for help in the Silsitra area but as yet no response. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
