| Subject: Question.... Wed Apr 02, 2014 8:01 pm | |
In our apt, the Sun blazes through the Front room and Bedroom windows first thing in the morning, so we are looking at buying something to hang up, Curtains maybe... We do have blinds that hang down, but these don't stop the sun shining through. Any ideas where we can buy something like this?

Assuming your in Sunny Beach, there are many curtain shops around, especially in Burgas. Taqke the measurements and they will be made up for you in the material of your choice. Some of the big DIY stores have ready mades, the same as the UK, if they have the correct size/style. Get a double or triple curtain rail (they screw to the ceiling) they you can layer the curtains, starting with voil/nets then thicker stuff into the room. If you are there now the sun maybe a problem but in the Summer it will be a lot higher so may not be such a problem.

From your link I see that you are in Sunny Beach, there are a few curtain shops in Sunny Beach, the best ones are the one opposite the Diamond Hotel, and one further up the road by the traffic lights by the bus station. The best curtains to buy are black out ones, but they are expensive in Bulgaria, well to be honest all curtains compared to the UK are expensive here. If you are in the UK then you can get black out curtains from Argos, and bring them over with you when you come out next. You can easily get curtain rails now in Masterhaus so you will not have a problem putting them up.

Thanks guys. I did think about buying them here (UK) and taking them, but figured they'd be quite heavy, but then we do have a limit of 20kg each and there's 4 of us going, so have plenty of scope. I also wondered if they were more expensive than the UK, so think I'll get them here. :)

We had a similar problem with buying curtains in BG. In general they are not cheap and the quality was not very good, also lined curtains were not easy to find. So we bought Dorma lined curtains through Ebay, they are lined and excellent quality.

Thanks, between eBay and Argos, we should be ok.

We use the blackout blinds that Gimp has mentioned and they work extremely well, got them from Dunhelm and had them sent over.

Blackout blinds are brilliant for keeping the sunlight out and work very well, I would say better than anything else so it might be worth you giving them a try.

I think what Berni is saying is a good idea but just for overnight and to stop the sun discolouring things and waking you up to early the blackout blinds would be the right approach.
