Internet Trolls and Cyber Crime
There is a lot being published on this topic at present, and I would suggest that twitter and facebook accounts have contributed to what is going on in the world of Cyber Crime [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

ONLINE ABUSE: WHAT THE LAW IS

Internet trolls who post offensive messages on Twitter can be arrested under the Malicious Communications Act 1988.

Under the terms of this Act, it is an offence to send messages to another person that are indecent, grossly offensive, threatening or false.

Any such message could be considered an offence if it causes distress or anxiety to the recipient.

The Act covers letters, telecommunications or any form of electronic communication. This includes messages posted on Twitter.

There is no requirement for the message to necessarily reach the recipient – it must merely have been sent, delivered or transmitted.

The Act was used to arrest the man accused of targeting Caroline Criado-Perez.

Those found guilty of sending malicious communications could face a maximum of six months in jail or a £5,000 fine.

The legislation became a hot issue last year after a semi-professional footballer posted a homophobic tweet about Olympic diver Tom Daley.

However, Keir Starmer, the Director of Public Prosecutions, said the comments were not so ‘grossly offensive’ that they should lead to a court prosecution

This story is so sad that a young teenager takes her life due to a cyber criminal and the disgusting threats she received
Having been a victim of death threats and ongoing abuse on the net for over three years I welcome any action that the Government, Google, Facebook and Twitter etc are taking against these usually anonymous trolls Internet Trolls 927475117

Totally agree with this but just what are the parents doing. Do they not see or have no interest in what their children are doing whilst they are so called playing on the net Internet Trolls 794030042

This particular case is about a young lady in her 15th year of life. In this day and age she could hardly be classed as a child, but I do agree with you that to many children and I mean children have to little supervision on the net from their parents and the trolls know that, but none of them have the guts to post in their own name Internet Trolls 1069384364

Most of these bogus sites rely on advertising to finance what that are doing
and of course the troll kings think they are the bee's knee's because they hide behind a screen called an alias so they think they wont get caught
I think Google should be held responsible for dealing with this sort of cyber crime and close down some of the sites that do nothing but endevour to tarnish innocent peoples reputation
By the way I have had four death threats from anonymous today so I know a little about what I am talking about
