Me and the OH are still trying to think of best options if/when we move to BG for getting there and vehicles.

It has been said in other posts about the problems of driving in BG in a right hand drive car and so are now thinking that maybe we should sell our right hand drive cars in the UK, fly over and then buy a left hand drive car when we get there.

Can anyone say of there are constraints in us being able to buy a car during the 3 month period before we are able to apply for residency if we move out.

Just looking at poptions at the moment.

If you have a Comnpany (for land ownership purposes) then you will have no problem buying a car and registering to your company, if on the otherhand you don't have a co then you not be able to register your UK car on BG plates or buy a BG car, until you have a temp residence card. I drive over regulatly in a RHD and haven't experienced any issues at all tho i can't comment of the problems you refer too as i haven't read them, I'm a relative newbie and haven't read all the posts. My advice would be to bring you own RHD car.

We drive a RHD over here and don't have a problem, it's handy to have your loved one beside you so that she can tell you when the road is clear and you can overtake. Or if she is driving, you can take on that role. Buying or registering here is not possible without your res permit and a copy of your Deeds.

my husband has driven an asortment of cars, minibuses and lorries all from the uk in bulgaria over the years. The only slight problem is seeing to overtake but nothing horrendous. you'll be fine especially if you have a passenger to help.

Sorry to disagree, but buying here and registering IS possible, otherwise how would folks from a country outside Bulgaria ever do it? I recently sold a vehicle to a Romanian lad who came down from Bucherest for a months holiday,saw the car, bought the car, insured in his name, drove it home and phoned me three weeks later and thanked me for a hassle free sale.

For what it's worth, I drive a RHD Jeep and a LHD Nissan Patrol these days and like any competent driver, have no problems swapping from one to the other.

Hi we have right hand a left hand veichles we both drive with out problems here. Most people including us drove over when we came to live there are a lot of personal things you will want to keep with you and not put in the removal lorry and a car or camper in our case is best. Documents photos etc are very heavy and can cost a fortune on a plane
