Carrefour include a flying start in the market in Sofia and we leave the choice. Although currently the French chain has only one store in town, what happened at the opening, showed that its presence can not be ignored. However, whether it was just a lot of noise, or is the beginning of a major change has yet to understand.

In April we decided to visit the stores that fall within a relatively close radius to the new The Mall, to see if they respond to long-awaited event. Therefore, shopping and the 23 - two days after the opening of the mall.

Indeed, the change in the average account is not big at all. The amount is EUR 28.42, which is only 2% less than in March. Carrefour, however, put yogurt in 9 st and 85 st of bananas, causing immediate reaction from Kaufland. As a result, the average price of yogurt dropped 29 percent. If you followed the bananas in the basket of mystery shoppers, there would be different. This also applies to other categories, such as olive oil, which can be bought in 6 euro per liter of extra virgin frantsuzite of the site.

Furthermore Kaufland we can not say that we met any particular response in the other chains, particularly in smaller sites where time seemed to be dormant, but the mood was downright lethargic. This is probably due to the fact that we were not there at rush hour, but we believe that assessment is far depend on the number of people on the site.

Besides yogurt rice is another food that has a significantly cheaper. The price has fallen in four of the seven stores that compare with the previous month. In the other three remained unchanged and the average reduction was 23%.

Under the sign of Carrefour

Easter mine and the price of eggs have declined on average by 11%. This occurs in five of the seven stores in the other two increased. Cheaper food products are among the more flour, sugar, coffee and milk. Increased reporting in bread, cheese, sausage and margarine. In the case of margarine change is only in Billa "
, where the price was 10 degree above that in March.

Among non-food products only shower gel more expensive (5%). The price was higher in five of the seven shops and one was unchanged. The average increase would have been even greater were it not for the price in the T-Market "
, which is EUR 3.20 lower than last month. And this is because this time the store had its own product brand.

Although the average total value of purchases fell by 2 percent compared to March, five shops in the sum is greater than then. These are "
Hit"
, "
Billa"
, "
Piccadilly"
, "
Fantastico"
and Kaufland. T-Market "
report serious decrease (EUR -6.58), half of which is due to shower gel. Even without him, however, would significantly decrease, which returns the circuit under "
cheaper"
from which it came out last time.

The cheapest store Carrefour, which account for twenty our product basket is estimated at just 25 EUR This is 12% less than the average for the past eight stores. Two shops, however, by an amount less than 26 BGN and are Kaufland and T-Market "
. In Kaufland amount is only a 12 degree higher than that of Carrefour, in the T-Market "
- 68 st in Piccadilly does the purchase price is significantly above average - 33.62 BGN 18% or more.

Fifth Carrefour store in Bulgaria to open in Rousse

The French international hypermarket chain Carrefour will open its newest store in the northern Bulgarian riverside town of Rousse by the end of the year, Bulgarian media reported on September 28 2010.

This will be the chain's fifth store in Bulgaria, after stores were opened earlier this year in Sofia, Plovdiv, Bourgas and Varna.

The Rousse store will be laid on a 8 000 sq m parcel and it will offer more than 15 000 types of goods, the report said.

Carrefour is headquartered in Levallois-Perret, France, and it is the largest hypermarket chain in the world in terms of size, the second largest retail group in the world in terms of revenue and third largest in profit after Wal-Mart and the British Tesco.

Carrefour operates mainly in Europe, Argentina, Brazil, China, Colombia and in the Dominican Republic, but also has shops in North Africa and other parts of Asia.

Carrefour's largest operation in Bulgaria is the hypermarket within the The Mall in Sofia which has an area of 9 000 sq m, opened by Prime Minister Boiko Borissov on April 2 2010.

Thank you for that it surely would be great if some of the supermarkets we all know do invest in Bulgaria I mean Tesco are huge in Hungary so I don't see why they wouldn't give Bulgaria a chance

It would be useful if the Carrefours that are opening up in Bulgaria carried the same sort of stuff that they carry in other countries. Even in Romania, the products are same old, same old apart from a few notable exceptions such as various varieties of Hellmans Mayonnaise. There was also "
bacon"
- unfortunately, that was rubbish Carrefour 794030042

On a slightly off-topic note, the new "
small"
Metro that opened in Dobrich recently was a huge disappointment. Whilst the Varna branch carries an interesting selection, the Dobrich one is just like a larger version of all the smaller food shops extant all over Bulgaria. Their car park, now, is virtually empty almost all the time.
