Moving over to Bulgaria shortly and just wondered if anyone can advise if the Green Card is still required when taking the Serbian route.
Would appreciate any advice as this will be our first time driving over to Bulgaria.
We are also bringing our two dogs and not sure if we will encounter any problems with them at Serbian border.

we are travelling to spain later in the year with a company that takes my dogs. they are avoiding serbia when the dogs are in transit, but the company will travel through serbia on the return journey without the dogs. i dont know what the reason is for this.

Make sure you keep hold of you dogs because Serbia does have a problem with Rabbis.

Cats and dogs must have a veterinary certificate confirming that they are healthy. It must be certified by the veterinary service in the place of origin or the place from which they come.

No special reason for travelling through Serbia, just got told is was quicker and more straightforward but through Romania would do just the
same as we are travelling in an old campervan and in no particular rush.
The dogs have their pasports and rabies' jabs so all in order just have to find removals now.

Try avoid Serbia if you're taking the dogs.

We went via Romania and had no problems (dog-friendly hotels even) but our Vet warned us against the Serbia route.

Our member and friend bulgariabill has just done the Romania route and said it was a fantastic drive on the new roads so no doubt when he has some time he will update us all with the route.

Thanks for that davshaz. Is the ferry from Italy the overnight one? I have heard this ferry is expensive and we shall have our two dogs and a cat with us so just wonder if the ferry would be a good option.

Yes animals welcome and coming in from Greece seems very attractive as we are not far from the Turkish border however it would work out rather expensive for the five of us. We are coming in an old campervan so we are thinking it might be cheaper paying for diesel and sticking to road all the way.
You know this forum is great as the help offered is just unbelievable so I really would like to thank you and probably sometime with less baggage we will try the route you have given.
