Well the decision has been made for me - our house has sold to some nice Bulgarians and its all happening in 10days. Talk about stress levels. We agreed to leave most of the furniture so I have been off shopping and arranging deliveries. My Hero has been soooo busy packing and moving with his wheel barrow everything he possibly can because our new home is just round the corner but down a muddy track after the recent snow. Today we have a lorry in the garden and two village lads helping move most of our precious wood store. Tomorrow internet to be connected and new woodburner being checked plus white goods delivery. Its quite exciting but I'll be glad when we are finally IN. I am sending prayers upstairs for the weather to stay fine. So far so good - thank you God. I must say to any of you in the process of house-hunting we had 3 companies advertising on their websites and I can recommend all 3 as honest and reliable. We are in the VT area. They were: Stara Planina Properties, Century Homes and the new Yantra Homes. Veselin from Century Homes finally got the sale after bargaining very hard with the Bulgarians. We finally agreed only 2,000euros under the asking price plus some furnishings. We had dropped the price 10,000 from the original 46,000euros when the market was a little more buoyant but realistically, although I am sure things will improve, it might not be in my lifetime. I am sure that we will get on well with the new Bulgarians who have already met our nice neighbours. I am a very happy though tired bunny. If anyone wants to see what you can get these days for 33,000euros and immediately cosy and liveable (though might need a little refurb after 7 years living in it) I seem to remember putting some pics in the gallery a while ago.

Oldun in your new home. Yes it is very stressful even if you are only going a short journey. We only moved next door and that was bad enough, but the move to finally come to BG will need a lot of planning. We are trying to get everything sorted for the end of January weather permitting. That is the earliest we can come due to our dogs getting ready for the passports they need. Hope you have a lovely Christmas in your new home. Congratulations :Fireworks:

Thank you so much to all of you for your good wishes. Its nice to hear some people care enough to post. Especially I am thinking of you Itchyfeet with your big move to Bulgaria and in the middle of winter. So far God is keeping his promise of fine weather and I hope he does the same for you. You never know, we might have another 'Gypsy summer' in January after the strange big snowfall at the end of October just a couple of days after experiencing 30C of heat! Very weird. Its now quite balmy again. As for the move. Its going well and so far, all the things I ordered have arrived and fit! What a responsibility with measurements. Our woodburner is being checked as I write but my internet man is very busy today and is coming tomorrow so at least I have internet still. I can't tell you how amazing my man is being organising the move. Yesterday the whole day was spent moving and restacking our wood and today our lovely local lad has helped with everything again and lifting all the deliveries which the men just dropped at the gate! That was Technomarket but JYSK delivery man yesterday helped move the furniture inside so he got a bit extra on top of the delivery charge. At least Technomarket was free delivery so can't complain at all. The lad helping us is living very rough in his very old house since his mother died a couple of years ago. Its a pleasure to have someone so willing to help us. We have to be very careful of his feelings and so on top of his village wage we are offering to barter a music centre and we will be recommending him to our new Bulgarians. I think some lazy young Brits could take a leaf out of his book! He is so thrilled he can now afford to buy some new shoes. Well that's all from me for now and I am back to cooking the evening meal while my hero is still working.

Many thanks oldun we have to do so much before we move, our builder has to install a bathroom with a toilet (can't understand what BG people do when they haven't got shower or a bath, not to mention the toilet!!), once the bathroom is in he is doing the kitchen/diner. Whilst this is all happening I shall be popping over to BG to buy important things like a bed and something to cook our meals on and oh . . . a chair to relax on when that is possible.
