UK Dogs Trust give workshop in SofiaOn September 27 and 28 the UK Dogs Trust visited Sofia to deliver a workshop designed to instruct schoolchildren about animal welfare and safety around strays.
Homeless animals is a pressing problem in Bulgaria;
in Sofia alone there are at least 8000 stray dogs.
The event was hosted by Animal Rescue Sofia (ARS) and took place at the Hotel Kolikovski.
Nadia Stancheva from ARS said: "
I strongly believe that any problem can be solved through education"
.
On September 27 there was a visit to a local school in Sofia where Alison Russell delivered an entertaining, stimulating and well received model lesson on dog awareness to the children. Alison works for the dogs trust in Scotland and is one of the 12 full-time education officers funded by The Dogs Trust fund in the UK.
The conference was attended by delegates from organisations across Bulgaria and Romania.
All the delegates left the workshop with many resources and ideas, ready to help children in schools in their areas.
