Hi Guys Re: Our new Orphanage Malek Preslavetz Project ‘Knitting for Winter’ I have a plan that would love to get operational for the winter months. As you all know the Dimcho is our main orphanage along with the Baby orphanage/medical centre in Silistra. We also have several other organisations we help in Silistra and round Bulgaria, 12 in total. This year our friends Mike & Jerry informed us of a new orphanage just outside Silistra called The Malek Preslavetz. Funds raised at their Danube trip was donated to Malek to provide clothing for the children. We also brought them box and boxes of goods for the children on our Sept trip.. Dougie and myself Berni visited them and distributed the goods along with 16 shoeboxes ready for Santa to deliver :0) This is a small group of 16 children aged between 3 and 10 years old although at the moment, the children are mostly aged between 5 and 8 and mostly boys. Dougie and I have already agreed that we will take on this orphanage Malek as one of our project and help where we can. As you know our cause is NOT to provide money but to provide essentials such as clothing, shoes, toiletries, linen, toys filled shoeboxes treats such as sweets, biscuits cake etc. The director has given us a listing of items they need which is on our website under Malek Preslavetz page please feel free to browse and comment [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] So the plan is to ask your lovely ladies in Bulgaria to help us with knitting. Necessity things like scarves, hats, gloves for now then we can donate them to the Malek orphanage. I already have two ladies Christine Griffin from Kochmar village and Sue Parker from Dobrich who will be happy to co ordinate this project from their areas. So what we need from you guys as follows: 1) Volunteer knitters, 2) Donation of wool 3) Volunteers who will place a box in an areas where people can leave wool donations, ie a Community hall, a shop or a bar. So now I just need the volunteers and the wool donations. If you can help, please contact myself, Sue or Christine if you are in their area. Thank you so much we really appreciate your support. Berni & Dougie.xx

Hi Guys Re: Our new Orphanage Malek Preslavetz Project ‘Knitting for Winter’ I have a plan that would love to get operational for the winter months. As you all know the Dimcho is our main orphanage along with the Baby orphanage/medical centre in Silistra. We also have several other organisations we help/helped in Silistra and round Bulgaria, 9 in total. This year our friends Mike & Jerry informed us of a new orphanage just outside Silistra called The Malek Preslavetz. Funds raised at their Danube trip were donated to Malek to provide clothing for the children. We also brought them 15 huge boxes of goods including Christmas shoeboxes for the children on our Sept trip.. Dougie and myself Berni visited them and distributed the goods along with 16 shoeboxes we personally filled ready for Santa to deliver :0) This is a small group of 16 children aged between 3 and 10 years old although at the moment, the children are mostly aged between 5 and 8 and mostly boys. If money is donated at any time, than we will buy the item they need ourselves. The director has given us a listing of items they need which is on our website under Malek Preslavetz page please feel free to browse and comment [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] You can also view the slide show for each of the 3 main orphangaes and the home for the elderly there. So the plan is to ask your lovely ladies in Bulgaria to help us with knitting. Necessity things like scarves, hats, gloves for now then we can donate them to the Malek orphanage and the others if we have more than required. I already have two ladies Christine Griffin from Kochmar village and Sue Parker from Dobrich who will be happy to co ordinate this project from their areas. Lubka in Silistra with two volunteers and now Tam in Sliven with two more volunteers Sue Edwards in Ruse area. So what we need from you guys as follows: 1) Volunteer knitters 2) Donation of wool 3) Volunteers who will place a box in an areas where people can leave wool donations, ie a Community hall, a shop or a bar. or just drop the wool off to one of the organizers So now I just need the volunteers and the wool donations. If you can help, please contact myself, Sue or Christine if you are in their area. Thank you so much we really appreciate your support. Berni & Dougie.xx

Morning Guys Shoeboxes for 2011 Got some photos on the website now of the children in the new orphanage Malek receiving their first ever shoeboxes They are overjoyed. We only found out about this orphanage very last minute so I had a rushed job trying to fill 16 shoeboxes plus extra in case others children turned up. But just look at their little faces, :Arrrr: most definitely well worth the effort I will do 20 shoeboxes for them in Feb so we are well ahead of ourselves. NOTE:: Cannot show children's faces due to legal reasons [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
