Hello all! im looking to buy a house in Bulgaria in a village. Im aware not many villages can actually access a good internet connection. Whats the internet like where you are? and where are you? Im looking for a place in the Shumen region but im willing to comprise for good internet access.

Fantastic internet coverage in our town and it is a fantastic town too It is Straldja.
We have been house hunting in the town with friends the last few days and have come up with some fantastic houses too I have photos of a couple and prices if you are interested PM me your email address and i will send you photos and prices.

It seems very variable about the exact area you get a good connection
In Vetren Nr Maglizh use the mobile broadband and it works every time on superfast connection ,Im usualy staying 5 mile away in Yulievo my mobile internet wont connect to anything for long and ive heard of the standard internet being slow there, but in our village/small town everyone seems to have very fast internet that works all the time they say its fine

When we moved to Kotel from Sofia (small mountain town from the Capital city!) we were worried. However the internet connection in Kotel was ten times more reliable and much faster than it ever was in Sofia. Crazy really.

Our is a sort of wireless system and uses an antenna but works fine and we only have problems with it in the bad winters.

We have no internet in our village or anywhere near so I tried all the companies in Silistra to see if they could help, but they all said no. Vivacom said there would be no signal hence it is unlikely a dongle will work. Mtel said I can buy a dongle for 30lev and try it out, if the mobile phone works than the dongle should too, but if it does not work I lose my 30lev. Friend had an Mtel dongle we tired it and it did no work. Global said more or less the same have to buy a dongle first. Anohter friend had a dongle we tried this out and it worked. It's fine for everyday use but not good for viewing videos etc, even if we got the highest dongle it would make no difference. I am very happy we have internet.

You really need to speak to people in your village who live right near you. Internet connection can be different for other parts of the village and you need to know the the coverage for your house alone.

Vivacom do different packages and I found that using the medium user modem made a big difference and I presume if I use the high user package that coverage will be even better. They also do a "
One Touch"
which is a mobile modem that you set in the best position in the house for contact with their antenna and it communicates with your computer on a wireless system. I haven't tried that yet, but it is our next step. Of course this all costs extra at the end of the month, but it depends how good your coverage is and how important your computer use is to you.
