Scorpions Confirm Farewell Gig in Sofia

Rock legends Scorpions have confirmed that even though their concert in Athens, Greece has been canceled, their gig in Sofia in still on the agenda,the organizer Contactmusic has announced.

Petar Haralampiev aka Haro, one of the organizers of the concert in Bulgaria, has ensured the fans that the cancellation of the Scorpions' show in Athens would not affect their performance in Sofia.

"
There is no problem for the concert of Sofia on October 9. The stadium is at its final part of preparations. The stage is constructed in 3-4 days,"
he said.

The concert of the German rock legends is part of their "
Get Your Sting and Blackout World Tour 2010/2011"
, which will be their farewell tour after 45 years of performing.

It will continue for two years and will be staged in Germany, Switzerland, France, the United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico and other countries.

Scorpions' are most known for their 1980s rock anthem "
Rock You Like a Hurricane"
and for their singles "
Send me an Angel,"

Scorpions Surprisingly Cancel Farewell Gig in Sofia

Rock legends Scorpions have unexpectedly canceled in the last minute their gig in Sofia, initially scheduled for October 9, over the deteriorated health of lead singer Klaus Meine, organizers announced late on Thursday.

Earlier in the day Petar Haralampiev aka Haro, one of the organizers of the concert in Bulgaria, had assured the fans that the cancellation of the Scorpions' show in Athens would not affect their performance in Sofia.

Scorpions fans in Bulgaria and Greece can console themselves with the promise that the concerts will be rescheduled for later in October.

Scorpions Reschedule Farewell Gig in Sofia for October 25

Legendary rock band the Scorpions have set October 25 as the new date for their concert in Sofia previously scheduled for last Saturday.

The Saturday date was cancelled because of a serious illness of singer Klaus Meine that had prevented the band from playing a prior date in Athens.

After releasing the critically-acclaimed "
Sting in the Tail"
album earlier in 2010, the Scorpions decided to call it quits in top shape after a 45-year spanning career.

The farewell tour kicked off in March in Prague and then went on to Europe, the USA and Latin America, before returning to Europe for the fall. The tour is set to continue beyond 2011.

Besides writing seminal pages in the history of rock and heavy metal, the Scorpions have had a special relationship with Eastern Europe, with their song "
Wind of Change"
(1990) immortalizing the fall of communism. They are the second Western rock band ever to have ever played in the Soviet Union, with a 1988 show in Leningrad.
