I remember watching a programme about Mosquitos in Bulgaria, I think it was set around the Danube river and it was really bad. Weirdly enough I dont think there was any speaking in it.whats the mosquito situation like where you live. Cheers.

They can be a nasty problem in some areas. The small river which divides my farm, recedes into a series of pools during the summer and is an ideal breeding place for these pests. We have insect screens on every window, but the little beggars manage to get in sometimes and can make sleeping a bit of a chore..we don't like using bug spray as a rule, but every now and then have to resort to it. Same applies to the flies.

The Black Sea Coast is the worst place for them. Saying that use some Deet and they stay well away. Not had any problems by the Danube except once during sunset. I found Greece much worse for the buggers.

Yeah must admit I don't usually attract more than two or three bites when on holiday, but Greece I get loads.

Where do you go ? Not to bad on the coast but do not leave a window open at night with the light on. I spend much of the summer in Sunny Beach but have not had to many problems.

Are you on about where do I go in Greece? I've been to a good few of the islands, the worst for mossies was Kos. I havent been to Bulgaria yet, but hope to start checking it out soon.

When I am around mozzies normally they form an orderly queue and ring the dinner bell and after I have supplied them with their meal I suffer with huge swellings and immense pain.Now my mate lives in Popina by the Danube river and his village has to be sprayed as they are really bad there at times.He moved here first having been my next door neighbour in the UK for 17 years and I followed with an invatation to buy a lovely property near him which I declined knowing that it would be the village of a million mozzies as it was near water.So if you suffer from mozzie bites do not move to any place that has a river or ponds or lakes by them.I live near Vulchi Dol and I didn't see or hear a mozzie this Summer and trust me if they were around I would be the first to know! If you live near the coast and suffer from mozzie bites walk out into the ocean and stand there for a few minutes as the salt water has a soothing effect on the bites.
