Lets start with Albena - not a great place to stay if you are looking for good quality services, otherwise it's quiet... very quiet sometimes. All Uk tour-operators with couple of exceptions withdrew from this resort. Villas nearby Albena - depends where,as in most cases it would be quite a walk to get to the beach or find any other facilities, i.e. shopping for food, etc.
Golden sands - biggest advantage is quality hotels and restaurants / bars / nightclubs and cheap regular transport to Varna, which has good nightlife, shopping, cafes, parks, museum, etc. Varna is the second biggest town in Bulgaria and worth visiting. Good beach both in Varna and Golden sands resort but if you are staying in a hotel at the back of resort - it's going to be up to 15 min walk downhill to get there. Swimming pools + sunbeds in every hotel.
Sunny Beach - bit, crowded, a bit of everything for everyone, but good nightlife and beach. Most UK tour-operators prefer this one as you have a lot of choice in terms of accommodation.
St Vlas - connected to Sunny Beach - regular public transport available / taxis... Depends which part of St Vlas - the new marina area is fantastic. But if you choose a SC accommodation further back from the main road it could be a long walk to the beach. I quite like St Vlas.
Villages around Sunny Beach... if you know your way around and have a car - go for it!
Sozopol - highly recommended by me - a lovely place with traditional style houses in the Old town, lovely street cafes and restaurants...
Duni - A/I resort 8 km from Sozopol - accommodation is of a very good standard, private beach, lovely pools , probably the best resort in Bulgaria. Transport to Sozopol - a taxi for a small fare is always available.
Bourgas - the biggest town &
airport in the vicinity of Sunny Beach / 25 min/, Sozopol/ 40 min/. Not really worth going to unless you are interested in picking some cheap souvenirs, etc.
