I would not use hardwood for decking as through time it will blacken,Do you ever drive up to Bucharest from Rousse there is some good outlets there that stock decking material, I cant remember the name but if you want I will find out for you.

I have took the risk of soft wood to do the decking as it is spared from the elements, so far so good, in the extreme heat, will wait for the extremes of winter to see if any damage occurs, i really wanted decking but all spoke against it, will wait and see. looks lovely for now. g

Keep it well treated and it will last you for 15 years,I built decks in the states for years and they always had treated lumber and it cracked and shrunk in the sun and rotted in the damp just the same as any wood will do.
I hope you have many long evenings enjoyment on your new deck. Enjoy

Hopefully if your timber is well treated it should last you a good while, i have installed a softwood terrace here, using 2 coats a primer to protect against woodworm, damp rot,dry rot etc etc, then 2 coats of exterior stain which also protects from moisture etc.

As far as "
proper"
decking goes, its available in Baumax in Sofia, treated boards, posts, joists etc etc as you would find in the UK.... so presumeably also available in any other branches as well.

Sorry i know the info is a bit late for you starlite, but just having a catch up on the site in my first spare minutes for many weeks.
