Bulgarians to Pay Higher Central Heating Bills from April 1
"
The central heating companies across the countries agreed on a five-percent increase in the price of central heating from April 1,"
said Mr. Angel Semerdzhiev, director of the State Energy and Waters Regulatory Committee. The higher prices of central heating are triggered by a 16.62 per-cent increase in the wholesale prices of natural gas for the central heating companies.
Meanwhile, it emerged that Italy's EVN that manages the distribution of electricity in Southeastern Bulgaria has proposed an power-meter tax of 1.80 levs for each household or industrial consumer from July 1. The owners of holiday villas and country houses will be the most affected by the new tax, because their property is uninhabited for the most part of the year. Still, they will have to pay 21.60 levs every year.
