UK Drugs Boss Aimed to Hide Millions in Bulgaria Properties
Lieutenants of the busted UK crime boss Khalid Malik are reported to have traveled to Bulgaria to find cheap land and property to buy in an attempt to hide his millions.
The UK national Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) reported that a criminal organisation led by Malik has been dismantled from top to bottom after a police investigation spanning six years, the Bradford Telegraph and Argus (thetelegraphandargus.co.uk) reported Monday.
Malik was sentenced to 25 years in jail in December 2005 for plotting to flood the Bradford district with 130 kg of heroin with a street value of GBP 7 M. The SOCA operation, run from West Yorkshire, resulted in 16 convictions with jail sentences totalling more than 150 years and the seizure of almost 300 kg of heroin.
Investigators are now aiming to seize millions of pounds of assets they claim Malik acquired through his drugs empire. It is not clear if this involves any property in Bulgaria.
