Bulgaria Household Income Slumps by 4% Y/Y
The average income per member of a Bulgarian household went down by 4,1% in November 2009 year-on-year to BGN 307,07 per month.
The data presented Friday by the National Statistics Institute (NSI) also shows that 81% of the income is formed by salaries and pensions.
The amount of the total average expenditures for a member of a household in the same period was, however, also down by 3,6% to BGN 278.
Nearly 54 % of all expenses are for food and household bills (water, electricity, heating, furniture and maintenance).
The money spent on food and non-alcoholic beverages went up by BGN 1,4% in November 2009 to BGN 99 a month per one household member.
The health care expenditures went up by 10% in November 2009 year-on-year, reaching BGN 16 a month per member of a household. The transport and communications expenditures went up by 4% year-on-year to BGN 30.
The statistics shows that bread consumption decreased year-on-year from 9 kilograms to 8,9 kilograms a month per member of a household. However, the meat consumption went up from 2,3 kg to 2,7 kg in the same period. Bulgarian also ate more fruit and potatoes.
